Woodhouse Colts JFC WELCOME TO WOODHOUSE COLTS FC
Local community charter standard football club Woodhouse Colts was established 35 years ago in 1977.

However we are led to believe that we are a lot older, but only got snippets of information to go on. Woodhouse Colts originally began life as a 6 a side team known as Marplea Colts playing in the Woodhouse Lions annual tournament on the ground next to the Turner Hall (Mansfield Woodhouse). The team members originally came from the Marples Avenue & Leadale Crescent area (hence the original name) and played in whatever white shirts we had. Once established we moved to Park Hall playing fields which are now part of the Manor Complex. The first side played at U12 level in the Mansfield Youth League where some of of teams still play and train today. As some of the players back then were too old to play at U12's so they were taken into the U14's of the league (albeit a year under age). The Under 14's were bolstered with players such as Neil Banks and David Barson (Neil went on to play for England schoolboys). The U12's were Runners Up in the KO Cup and the League loosing out to Sheffield Utd. Nursery side called Thorpe Salvin... This did not prevent Woodhouse Colts rolling them over 1-0 in the final of the Benevolent Cup played at Bilsthorpe MW and bringing home their first pieces of silverware. This marked the start of many things to come and Woodhouse Colts had truly arrived.

7 years ago we became a Chartered Standard Club consisting of 17 teams, ranging from U7's, though to a senior team and pleased to say we also have 2 girls teams and a disability team. This constitutes to 180 boys and girls playing for us across various Leagues ie. Mansfield Youth League, Kickstart League, Young Elizabethan League, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire girls League and the Nottinghamshire Sunday League. Our determination and hard work over the years from the Players, Managers and Officials has paid off and some of our teams have moved their home games to Forest Town Welfare were we have signed a 20 year partnership and are in the process of returning the Pavilion and the Grounds to their former condition and are looking forward to becoming a Community Chartered Standard Club...

📰 Match Report /10/2026 Woodhouse Athena 1:3 Burton Joyce

Summary

The girls today played their first cup game of the season and as luck would have it ended up with top of the table Vs us, who are currently sitting in 2nd
I think the game started more in favour of Woodhouse, the ball in their half much more and created some good chances in the first half, I felt the girls were very unfortunate to go into half time 1-nil down. I was very happy with the effort levels, the closing down and pressing causing the away team to give away throwing’s and corners on many occasions.
We created enough chances in the first half and my words were positive to the girls, mainly telling them that Burton Joyce were there for the taking and the fact they had 5 academy players (advised by their manager) was credit to the girls going toe to toe in the first 35 minutes.
The second half started very similar both teams created good chances, Woodhouse had a few good openings, dribbling round the keeper just needed a left foot to slot it in. A nice ball in across the face of goal, which was on a plate for the player at the back post, but communication was not there between the striker and winger seeing it attacked by the player in the less favourable position!
Our keeper made some fantastic saves, pick of the bunch being tipped onto the post!
Burton Joyce eventually wore us down in the last 10-15 minutes is where the game was won, openings saw the away team with two one on one chances which were taken brilliantly. Due to the last quarter of the second half, I do think Burton Joyce probably just edged us today and fractionally deserved the win, but not by two goals.
I was happy with the girls today and gives me some hope we can upset the favourites for the league when we meet two more times.
The girls remain in the cup competition due to the table format implemented by the league last season, therefore not all doom and gloom 😊

📰 Match Report - 27/09/2026 West Bridgeford Lions 2:4 Woodhouse Athena 📰

Summary

A long away game for the girls today, with players and parents facing delays due to the Robin Hood Marathon, road closures and heavy traffic saw Libby C, Summer and Libby E miss half the game, Thankfully, everyone made it there in the end and it did not disrupt the team who were fast out of the blocks with a great first half performance.
The girls started strongly with a bare 11 players, once everyone had settled, they played some fantastic football and worked incredibly hard as a team, showing great commitment and supporting one another throughout the game.
There was some excellent passing and, once again, we’re seeing a real improvement in communication, both on and off the ball. The girls are starting to talk to each other much more, which is making a huge difference to their play.
Some great goals, fantastic teamwork and a well-deserved result. A brilliant effort from everyone! This was a big win against a team likely pushing for one of the top three spots.

📰Match Report 20/09/2026 Woodhouse Athena 5:1 Sandiacre 📰

Summary
Due to personal circumstances, I was unable to attend today’s game, but I was kindly kept updated with the score throughout the match.
The feedback from Tom and Dom was positive, up against a much more physical defence this week saw some 1 vs 1 battles which worked out well as we have been working on these types of drills in recent training sessions.
I was told we created lots of good chances and worked together as a team with some nice moves going forward. Overall, I was told there wasn’t any player out there performing below average which was great to hear.
Some feedback was old habits creeping back in, players in space not being utilised, not using teammates in better positions instead trying to take on multiple defenders losing possession. Going into the next match will be a different kettle of fish playing West Bridgeford Lions who are 3rd in the league; therefore, we need to make the right decisions as chances on goal will likely be more limited.
Athena are now sitting in 2nd place after three games, great start to the campaign, well done girls, keep it up!

📰 Match Report 13/09/2026 Calverton 1:8 Woodhouse Athena 📰

Summary
The girls had probably the worst start to the game since my 4 years with them, conceding a goal within the first 15 seconds was very sloppy!
However, Athena soon started to show promise all around the pitch both defensively solid and creating lots of chances which was inevitable that we would go ahead at half time with a two-goal lead. The score did not really do the girls justice as it could have easily been 13-15 if we had that clinical edge in front of goal.
There were some brilliant moments in the game, overlapping runs, 1-2 interchange passing, inch perfect through balls, defensively moving higher up the pitch as a unit, a banger of a free kick and some great saves from our keeper.
Really happy with them, I could not pick a bad player on the pitch today! In the end we just had too much for Calverton, and they were outworked with stamina and our pacey wingers and striker caused big issues for them in the second half! Well done girls roll on our next home game Sunday 20th 😊

📰 06/09/2026 Woodhouse Athena 2:2 Meden Vale 📰

Summary

Not the best start to the game, very slow to get to grips with the Meden press. Defence often far to high in the first half, very deep encouraging pressure from the visitors. Midfield caught to high up the pitch on multiple occasions also made things difficult for us at times. We did have some spells in the first half where goals nearly came but not many clear-cut chances created, We went into the half time 2-0 down with lots to improve on.

The second half was much more positive, better use of the ball, the girls did listen at half time and Myself, Tom and Dom were all very happy in how the reacted to the discussions and transferred that onto the pitch. Overall, I was happy with pulling things back to 2-2 and taking a point from the game. Meden are no pushovers, winners of their division last year and proved tough opponents today.

I do feel a few injuries being carried into the game from players who play Saturday’s may have had a slight impact and having to bring two players off due to minor injuries, but still a draw being a fair result.
