A few more shots from our anniversary weekend, thank you to everyone who came to support us and enjoyed the special services in the glorious sunshine with Sea Lion, Brown Bear & Dolphin all in service. 🚂

An amazing start to our anniversary weekend with a ceremony to mark 130 years of the railway with our original locomotive Sea Lion and 40 years since the restored railway reopened with the locomotive that performed the first train in 1986; Dolphin. 🚂

Chairman Trevor Nall performed a welcoming speech and the railway’s patron Charles Guard MBE performed a speech and launched our new souvenir guide, before a cake cutting ceremony.

Followed by the first trains out to Sea Lion Rocks to enjoy cake and refreshments. All in glorious sunshine. ☀️

We are open both today and tomorrow from 11am to 4:30pm charging token 1896 prices, so come and celebrate with us.

Tomorrow we recreate the railway in 1905 with Sea Lion and Brown Bear operating.

Our friends at Groudle Glen Railway turn 130 years old (and 40 years since the railway reopened) this Saturday - travel there in 1896 style with the MER, with our special offer return travel fare of £5 per adult and £2.50 per child between Derby Castle (Douglas) and Groudle 🤩

The event at Groudle starts at 10:15 (see the invite in our comments) - as well as our advertised services, there will be an additional 09:20 service departing from Derby Castle to get you to Groudle in plenty of time for the event, why not take a walk through the beautiful Glen and beach before heading up to the railway? 🌳🚂

Tram tickets are purchased on the day from Derby Castle station.
