Julia J and Rheanna decided to try out their fitness in a long-distance race so took a double scull to the Ely Marathon last Sunday. This race starts near Denver Sluice and heads south along the fenland drain for 22k to Ely. Having entered as Masters B, and only one year off Mas C the organisers, in their wisdom decided to move their entry to Masters A !! Undeterred, they stuck to their race plan, completing the course in 1 hour, 42 mins, winning their category by over a minute, and setting a new course record for W Mas A 2X!
This is an amazing result for a scratch crew making a last minute entry into such a specialised distance - with proper preparation, let's see what you can do next year!!
