Congratulations to the cadets from Tameside Sea Cadet Corps who successfully completed their Bronze DofE expedition this weekend in the Cheshire countryside.

Please speak with your unit Training Officer if you want to complete your DofE with the Sea Cadets. Did you know that if you are already signed up through school you can still complete sections with us?

It has been a fantastic start to 2026 in the Manchester District. We have doubled up on our delivery. We are really proud and thankful to our Cadet Force Adult Volunteers for the amount of time they have given our cadets so far this year and the effort they have put in to making our activities happen.

Today, cadets from across the Manchester District attended the Sea Cadets North West Area Drill & Piping Competition for 2026. Manchester District entered two teams in the Unarmed Squad Category with cadets from Tameside Sea Cadet Corps, Stockport Sea Cadets Unit, Royal Marines Cadets - Trafford, Sea Cadets Trafford, Manchester Trafalgar Sea Cadets, Salford Sea Cadets, Middleton & Chadderton Sea Cadets.

Our cadets have shown incredible dedication to their training over the past few weeks, and we’re proud to share their outstanding results:

🏆 2 Troop Combined Team (Manchester) – 1st Place
🥈 Manchester Sea Cadets Team – 2nd Place

We couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. Performing in front of large crowds in a highly competitive environment is no small feat, yet our cadets delivered with confidence, professionalism, and impeccable conduct throughout the day.

Bravo Zulu to all our cadets for their commitment and success!

A huge thank you to our adult volunteers who made today possible. Special recognition goes to Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Luke Norton, District Staff Officer for Drill & Ceremonial, for his leadership, and Probationary Sergeant (SCC) Ryan Knowles, Drill Leader and POC Morrison for their valuable contribution.

A fantastic day for our district!

Fantastic result for Trafford Unit!

We are focusing on recruiting new volunteers for our Royal Marines Cadets Detachments in Manchester so here are some myth busters about volunteering within the Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets:

❎ Volunteers have to attend 100% of the time.
✅ Volunteers can commit what time they can give to the cadets.

❎ Volunteers have to have been in the armed forces.
✅ Our volunteers come from all walks of life, some are veterans but not as many as you might think.

❎ I would need to pass a fitness test and medical exam.
✅ Cadets isn’t the same as the Forces. We’re an inclusive organisation, and there are lots of different ways people can get involved and make a real contribution. While our recruitment materials often use photos taken outdoors to grab attention, there are many other roles we need adult volunteers for — from administration and logistics, to welfare and chaplaincy. There are no fitness or medical tests, and we’ll work with you to find the role that’s right for you.

❎ I will have to give up lots of weekends for camps and training.
✅ If you join on as a uniformed instructor, there are 3 weekends that must be completed within the first 2-3 years of joining for Royal Marines Cadets. Other weekends are optional and not compulsory. We have adult volunteers who prefer the weekends and others who only commit to parade nights (evenings during the week) at their detachments.

Email us: [email protected] with any queries or to organise an informal chat with no obligations to find out about the many roles we have in the cadets.
