The journey through Australia’s aromatic landscape continued with new discoveries and unforgettable experiences.

During the IFEAT Australia Study Tour, delegates visited production sites, explored native plantations, and learned more about the cultivation and processing of some of Australia’s most iconic essential oils. From tea tree and eucalyptus to buddhawood, each stop offered valuable insights into the innovation, sustainability, and dedication behind the industry.

These moments strengthened connections, expanded knowledge, and highlighted the importance of collaboration within the global essential oils community.

The tour continued to reveal the richness of Australia’s botanical heritage and the people who make it possible.

Following our update last week, we are pleased to announce that the IFEAT 2026 Conference will now be held in Bangkok, Thailand from Monday 19th – Friday 23rd October 2026.

In a change from the usual programme, the Welcome Reception will take place on the Monday evening and the Conference from Tuesday 20th-Friday 23rd.

This relocation reflects a thoughtful and forward‑looking decision. Key considerations included global accessibility, streamlined visa processes, availability of the required dates, and ensuring appropriate distance from current conflict-affected regions. Bangkok, a dynamic and globally connected hub at the centre of the natural ingredients trade, offers the ideal environment for our industry to convene, collaborate, and continue building momentum.

Over the past weeks, we conducted a comprehensive review of more than 20 potential venues worldwide to ensure the 2026 Conference could proceed without compromising the quality, experience, and standards that define IFEAT.

Drawing on the success of our previous Bangkok Conference, the 2026 edition will deliver an entirely refreshed experience – featuring a redesigned programme, enhanced session formats, and a stronger focus on the themes shaping our industry’s future.

We are pleased to confirm that IFEAT Directors Robby Gunawan and Alastair Hitchen will serve as Co‑Chairs of the IFEAT Bangkok Conference 2026.

Registration will open on Tuesday, 14 April 2026 at 12:00 PM UK Time.

Detailed information on pricing, registration procedures, venue and accommodation options will be released shortly.

ICATS is now the IFEAT Academy! IFEAT has officially integrated the International Centre for Aroma Trade Studies (ICATS) into its new flagship educational brand: the IFEAT Academy.

Following IFEAT’s acquisition of ICATS in early 2023, this relaunch marks a significant step in the digital and academic overhaul of our education programme. IFEAT Academy now serves as the centralised home for IFEAT’s industry-standard professional development.

“The IFEAT Academy is one of the most significant successes of the Federation in recent years,” says IFEAT Education Committee Chair, Ruben Francot. “It embodies IFEAT’s commitment to knowledge, education and industry excellence, serving as a global reference point for companies and professionals who want to grow within the world of essential oils, aromas and fragrances.”

IFEAT Academy courses operate through a bespoke, asynchronous remote learning platform. This allows professionals to study from any location without the need for live attendance or formal exams. All units are assignment-based, focusing on practical industry application. The courses are open to both IFEAT Members and non-Members globally.

There are numerous different routes that students can take – from the Full Diploma to the Flavourist or Fragrance bundles. Or for those who wish to focus on a specific unit, all of the individual units can be taken independently.

IFEAT is pleased to release its latest Socio-Economic Report, focusing on Tea Tree Oil (TTO).

As a natural complex substance, tea tree oil now sits within an evolving regulatory landscape in the European Union and other jurisdictions. These developments carry material socio-economic implications across the entire value chain, affecting growers, farming communities, distillers, processors, exporters, and downstream manufacturers and brand owners.

The Tea Tree Oil Socio-Economic Report provides an overview of global production and trade, a structured explanation of the regulatory framework, and analysis of the potential socio-economic implications. It offers context for policymakers, industry stakeholders and regulators at a time when regulatory decisions may have far-reaching consequences.
