Looking for support, advice or ways to connect with your local community? Our Community Marketplaces is coming next week to Portpatrick and everyone is welcome.
Discover the range of local support available to help you and your family stay healthy, connected, supported and well.
There’s no need to book. Just turn up between 11am and 3pm.
You’ll have the chance to:

• Find out what’s available near you and get help finding the right support for your needs
• Ask questions and get advice from people who can point you in the right direction

Our February meeting took place a few weeks back and we welcomed Dawn from Billow & Breeze in Stranraer. Dawn brought along some oyster shells that she had already prepared and our ladies did some decoupage and decorating with metallic pens. Everyone really enjoyed the evening and we asked Dawn lots of interesting questions about her art. The ladies then enjoyed a supper provided by our members and we held our competitions and raffle. Our next meeting is Monday 9th March at 7.30pm, send us a message and come along!

Stoneykirk SWI February 2025 Meeting
“Hands that do Crafts” was the hands-on evening of Bead Making that the Stoneykirk ladies were privileged to experience, delivered by Heidi Hunt.

Heidi’s passion for ‘Beads’ was fascinating to hear from the making of them to the creation of the wonderful pieces that were displayed. These included earrings, head pieces and corsages. The wows and gasps of admiration for the pieces Heidi showed us, spurred on the ladies to try their hand at creating something. The concentration was intense! Some with more success than others! Nevertheless, it was a wonderful insight into the creativity and time that it takes to achieve such marvellous pieces

Stoneykirk SWI is a very friendly group of women of all ages – from young mums to great grandmas. Visitors are most welcome to join us for an evening of friendship, chatter and listen to our informative speakers and demonstrators. We always have a sociable supper, a raffle and competitions. The group meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm in Sandhead Church Hall. For more information about our meetings please contact our President Sally Hair on 860 324 🌷

A fantastic day out at Green Valley for the Wigtownshire Federation Show. Well done to everyone taking part and the organisers. What a wonderful display of Wigtownshire talent on show today. Congratulations to our own Stoneykirk SWI members who scored highly 👏🏻 a few pictures of their work.

“The World is a Wilderness Without Flowers” was the headline for the Stoneykirk WI. The ladies were asked to bring a kitchen utensil/container to use as their inspiration for a floral decoration. This was inspired by our one and only Ruth Fleming who came armed with a colourful array of flowers for the ladies to be creative with. Ruth demonstrated some ideas of her own, two of which were created from a mustard jar and an Irn Bru can. This sparked the ladies into action to try their hand at being just as imaginative with their chosen utensil/container. The results spoke for themselves with decorations that varied in sizes and colour, to the amazement of all that took part. It was very much an enjoyable evening, which as usual ended by having a wonderful supper.
