🌊💨 THE WEATHER HAS TAKEN CENTRE STAGE! 💨🌧️

Sadly, tonight’s Wessex Musical Theatre performance of Sea Breeze & Showstoppers at Nothe Fort, Weymouth, scheduled for 6pm, has been cancelled.

The sea breeze has taken its role a little too seriously — and we’d rather not have our performers, audience, sheet music or set blown into the English Channel! 🌊

Unfortunately, our reserve performance tomorrow has also been cancelled due to the predicted rain. ☔️

All tickets will be refunded via TicketSource today. 🎟️

We’re disappointed not to be performing, but safety comes first. Thank you to everyone for your support, patience and understanding — and to our wonderful performers and crew.

There will be plenty more music, laughter and Showstoppers to come. This is definitely not the final curtain!

IMPORTANT NOTICE – SEA BREEZE & SHOWSTOPPER!
Wessex Musical Theatre are really looking forward to welcoming you to Sea Breeze & Showstopper at Nothe Fort, Weymouth, this Saturday 29th August from 6:00pm!

We are planning to put on the show as advertised and our performers are ready to entertain you. However, as this is an outdoor venue, we just wanted to give you a little advance warning about the conditions.

💨 It is expected to be quite windy, with some strong and gusting winds.
🌦️ There may also be the odd spot of rain, so please come prepared and dress appropriately for the evening.

We recommend warm layers and something waterproof, just in case. And, importantly, please avoid bringing anything loose or lightweight that could blow away — we don't want your hats, programmes, blankets or belongings joining the cast on stage! 😂

We will do our very best to put the show on exactly as planned, but Mother Nature may decide to provide a little additional sound and special effects of her own!

So hold onto your hats, wrap up warm and come ready for a fantastic evening of musical theatre. 🎶✨

We can't control the wind… but we can promise to do our very best to entertain you!

Remembering an icon ✨️

She may be gone but her musical legacy will go on forever. Thank you Dolly for the laughs, smiles and songs.

Though it might be a bit harder to tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen, we know you will be cheering us on from above, singing along 🩷

🎭 5 MINUTES WITH OUR DIRECTOR – TOM HOWDEN! 🎭

We’re officially getting VERY close now… Sea Breeze & Showstoppers is NEXT WEEK!

Ahead of our return to the beautiful Nothe Fort on Saturday 29th August, we caught up with our director Tom Howden to find out a little more about his directing journey, what he’s loving about this year’s show and his dream musical theatre role!

🎬 How did you first get into directing?

"I first directed a one-act play for a play festival competition in the Ocean Room at Weymouth Pavilion when I was 17 – and we came second! My university course was Performing Arts, where I also took a specialist directing course."

🌈 Is there a particular number you're most excited for people to see?

"There's no particular number, but I love the harmonies in the Wizard of Oz medley – and all of the large group numbers. It's what we do best!!"

🎭 What's your dream role or favourite musical?

"I think I might have already done my dream role – Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar! Or maybe the Phantom… but I don't think that'll ever happen! 😔"

🌊 Why should someone who's never seen a Wessex Musical Theatre production come along this summer?

"If you love musical theatre and big chorus numbers with amazing harmonies, then you should watch us! We also try to make every show as fun as possible – for the audience AND us!"

And if that sounds like your kind of evening, there’s not long to wait!

📅 NEXT WEEK – Saturday 29th August 2026
📍 Nothe Fort, Weymouth

Whether you've been supporting Wessex for years or you've never seen one of our shows before, we'd love to have you there.

There’s still time to get your tickets – come along and support local theatre!

✨ SOLO REVEAL! ✨

Another soloist is ready to take the spotlight at Sea Breeze & Showstoppers… and this time it's Zoe Bamford!

Those who joined us at the Nothe last year may remember Zoe's fantastic performance of ‘Heart of Stone’ from SIX. This year, she's returning with another iconic musical theatre number…

🇦🇷 ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ from Evita 🇦🇷

One of musical theatre's most recognisable songs, we can't wait to hear Zoe bring this Andrew Lloyd Webber classic to life in the incredible surroundings of Nothe Fort.

It's time to start giving sneak peaks into some of the incredible solo performances you'll be hearing at Sea Breeze & Showstoppers at Nothe Fort!

First up, we're shining the spotlight on… Karl Vogts!

You may recognise Karl from our recent production of 9 to 5 The Musical, where he took to the stage as Joe. This time, he's swapping Consolidated Industries for the bright lights of Hollywood as he performs…

‘Sunset Boulevard’ from Sunset Boulevard

A powerful musical theatre classic and a song that we're very excited for you to hear against the spectacular backdrop of Nothe Fort.
