From today, 1st October, social housing providers like BCHA must publish certain information online. This includes information like how we are ran, how we spend our money and how we manage our housing services.

This new scheme is called the Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements, also known as the STAIRs scheme.

We are pleased to announce that two Liberty Project team members have now completed Hope for Justice IMSA (The Independent Modern Slavery Advocacy Model) training! Delivered by St Mary's University, London the accredited training, resulting in a postgraduate certificate, saw students learn how to be an independent advocate, learn about policy frameworks around modern slavery and how to stay trauma informed and culturally competent.

Independent Modern Slavery Advocates (IMSAs) provide structured, consistent and specialist support, helping ensure survivors’ voices, needs and rights remain at the heart of their support. Alongside continuing to provide one-to-one support to survivors, colleagues worked incredibly hard to complete the training, and we’re already seeing the positive difference it makes to the support and outcomes we can provide.

Marie, an Independent Modern Slavery Advocate at BCHA, said "The IMSA course has been a valuable experience, both professionally and personally. It has deepened my understanding of modern slavery and strengthened my confidence to advocate for survivors, challenge systems, and promote their rights and choices. Effective advocacy is not only about knowing legislation and policy; it is about having the confidence to question decisions, challenge systems and advocate for survivors’ rights and ensure their voices are heard

I feel excited and proud to be part of a new approach to supporting survivors, strengthening advocacy and contributing to positive change nationally."

BCHA are proud to be part of the important IMSA pilot, and are pleased to continue strengthening our support for survivors.

Just join the virtual waiting area and speak privately with one of our Wellbeing Coordinators.

The Dorset Community Front Rooms Swanage pop-up has now finished.

Our 3-month Swanage Pop-Up has now finished.

We have loved being able to support the community over the past 3 months. We'd also like to say a big thank you to The Loft Swanage Community Centre, for hosting us.

(Please note due to staffing shortage the pop-up will be closing a day earlier than planned.)

In just under a months time, BCHA's BCP Domestic Abuse team will be at Dorset based festival Wild and Wiser from the 19th - 20th September.

Kaila, Senior Practitioner for the Domestic Abuse team, said "We're thrilled to be attending Wild and Wiser and celebrating the strength of our community. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with women, raise awareness of domestic abuse and remind anyone who may need it that support is available, they're not along, and help is here when they're ready."

The team will be on hand to provide support, advice and signposting for attendees.
