1st Dorcan Scout Group "Outdoors & Active" Established in 1985 when 23rd Swindon & 26th Swindon merged to become 1st Dorcan. Will you come and join the adventure?

1st Dorcan Scout group offer a range of adventurous activities such as kayaking, archery and hiking. We like to take on challenges whether it's zooming on zip wire or completing the crate stacking tower as a team! We teach from learning to camp outdoors and cooking on an open fire to practising first aid and learning how to do a chore or two. We encourage our young people to take on

leadership roles and to work together as a team, a core ingredient for the big wide world. This teaches them social skills, communication and gives them the opportunity to think outside the box and take initiative. Our programme is a mixture of adult and youth led, the young people have a voice and are able to choose activities and even plan section evenings which covers a wide range of badges. Each section has a top award which the young people can work towards achieving and is reflection of how hard they've worked to gain this. 1st Dorcan have their own branded t-shirts and hoodies for activity days and camps 🏕️

T-shirts are £13 & Hoodies are £19.

We do have some secondhand uniforms available:
* (4) 7-8yo hoodies - £3 (Sold 2, have 2 left)
* (2) 7-8yo t-shirts - £2 (Sold)
* (2) 9-11yo hoodies - £3 (Sold 1, have 1 left)
* (1) 9-11yo t-shirts - £2 (Sold)
There is some wear with this uniform but it’s still in good enough condition to be worn again.

If you’re interested in the new uniform then please email your section volunteer lead to place your order. We will take the payments via the direct debit system ‘go cardless’.

If you’re interested in the second hand uniform please email Cally at [email protected] and I will allocate it to first come, first serve. Payments will be cash only on a section night.

Scouts and Art Swindon. Fantastic evening of Time travel. We saw a bone from the Swindon Stegosaurus, Roman artefacts, played a medieval game and dressed up. There were lots of fascinating things to see and read about. Interesting to find out Swindon was under water along with much of the UK.

One of the Squirrels 🐿️ wanted a snack night so a snack night it was, but with a twist! Anybody for rabbit poo (raisins)...

One of the Squirrels 🐿️ wanted a snack night so a snack night it was, but with a twist! Anybody for rabbit poo (raisins) toenails (cheese) Bogies (apple sauce) beansprouts (worms) or brains (cauliflower with red food colouring). They did fantastic with all having a try and giggling about it afterwards 🤭

Beavers 🦫 did a points system for theirs with 5 points for no clues to what the food item was! With less points if they had to smell it, feel it or know its name. We also did the bean challenge in which Hedgehog and Racoon got the dog poo bean 💩😳and the hot chilli one 🌶️ 🥵
