dot-art

dot-art dot-art is a Liverpool based art organisation which exists to make affordable original art accessibl

dot-art was founded in Liverpool in 2006 and specialises in affordable, high quality, locally sourced art. We work with over 100 artists to provide an unrivaled choice of original art and limited edition prints for home or business, as well as offering a range of complementary services including; commissions, art rental, art consultancy, exhibition planning and implementation, bespoke framing, art

valuation and restoration and artist sourcing. Artwork can be browsed at our gallery on Queen Avenue, our website (www.dot-art.com) and Rex: The Concept Store on Bold Street, Liverpool. dot-art supports visual artists and champions art as an integral part of everyday life. We do this by selling locally sourced, affordable art, working with businesses to put art in the workplace and public realm, running art classes and working with schools and community groups. All this is underpinned by our unique membership scheme for artists in the North West which gives access to all the activities above and a package of support and advice, creating and developing artists’ careers. All our work supports our not-for profit arm, dot-art Services CIC, which exists to support North-West based visual artists, both emerging and established, through a range of services and opportunities designed to help them develop their careers and gain exposure and promotion for their work, as well as delivering a programme of art classes across Liverpool; and dot-art Schools, our innovative inter school art competition, launched in 2012.

A visual trip down Castle Street to remind you where we are!

We often hear from our lovely local visitors 'I've lived here (insert number of years) and didn't even know this was here!' when talking about the gallery or Queen Avenue.

Queen Avenue is affectionately known as Liverpool’s very own Diagon Alley. The Grade II buildings based along Queen Avenue were historically home to financial and insurance companies, with the Queen Insurance Building which housed the Liverpool Stock Exchange from 1844 to 1852.

And whilst your down here, check out our neighbours , and for some beautiful food and drinks ♥

"I think artists look at the world differently, they are both dreamers and problem solvers and the world needs more of us. I believe schools should be harnessing this powers of creative thinking and encouraging all forms of the arts.”

See more of Hilary's work on our website, and in our upcoming exhibition NOWHERE.

For 20 years, dot-art has believed that every child should have the opportunity to experience, enjoy and participate in art.

Through our long-running dot-art Schools programme in Liverpool City Region, and now Art Bytes, our national programme for Year 5 and Year 9 pupils across England, we’ve created opportunities for young people to have their creativity recognised, share their work beyond the classroom and build confidence through art.

Together, these programmes have engaged 21,000 school children and delivered 30,000 hours of creative teaching, contributing an estimated £5 million in social value.

And the impact goes beyond the numbers: nurturing talent, raising aspirations, building cultural capital and helping young people see themselves as creative individuals with something valuable to contribute.

That’s something worth celebrating as we mark 20 years of dot-art. 💙

Just two weeks left for Bread and Roses for 2026 🍞🌹

Over 50 original artworks on display from as low as £80 and never over £250!

Creativity is everywhere in our region, and we love the opportunity that B+R bring to get as many of our artist members up on the wall. Subjects this year in the gallery include kiwis, dogs, ducks, ravens, abstract painted vinyl records, alien landscapes, Greek boats, classical music depicted with paint, Wirral walks, woodland and many more.

Pick up a truly one of a kind work of art before 6pm Saturday 29th August.

Next up in the gallery! 🎨

NOWHERE brings together dot-art Artist Members Hilary Dron, Nathan Pendlebury and Mikki Gleave in an exhibition exploring landscapes of nowhere in particular.

The works in NOWHERE celebrate gesture, texture, colour and materiality. Drawing on fragments of memory, traces of lived experience and entirely imagined terrains, each artist constructs landscapes that exist somewhere between recognition and invention.

Whether drawn to abstraction, landscape or the physical language of materials and mark-making, NOWHERE invites visitors to slow down, look closely and discover places that exist beyond geography.

Bread and Roses spotlight on Nicola Lowe 🌹

Inspired by nature, Nicola's work sits somewhere between realism and the surreal, using expressive colour, movement and texture to capture her own perception of the natural world.

Nicola describes herself as an intuitive painter, working quickly and loosely with acrylics before gradually building up layers of detail. Although she often begins with an image in mind, the painting evolves through the process with each decision shaping where the final work ends up.

On display in the gallery until 29th August

Works:
Between Worlds, acrylic on canvas £150
Almost Home. acrylic on canvas £180
Where light finds the path, acrylic on canvas £180

is a significant event in the dot-art calendar, and since 2012 we've welcomed a huge amount of visitors to our various host venues. This graphic is now out of date and does not include the thousands of visitors to LAF 2026!

Did you visit this year? Or perhaps you didn't realise that dot-art are the small team behind LAF?

We have a winner! 🎉

Thank you to all who entered our second dot-art Prize Draw. Our lucky winner was Sarah, who was presented with her new original art work by Alexis Butterfield last week. We're sure Sarah will enjoy it for years to come!

Each entry supported the running of a national art and EdTech programme for year 5 and year 9 students in all educational settings, combining an inter-school art competition judged by artists and arts professionals with a bespoke virtual gallery, augmented reality (AR) tools and in-person Celebration Events in cultural venues across England.

🎨 ALL HAIL BELLE VALE 🎨

Something big is coming to Belle Vale, and it’s all about YOU. We’re creating a series of large-scale murals built entirely from local words, sayings and slang, the stuff you actually say, not generic Scouse, but proper Belle Vale language.

Working with artists Joe Venning and Jodie Cavanagh (a Belle Vale local herself), as part of the council’s wider HOME programme, we want to hear the words and phrases that make Belle Vale, Belle Vale.

✏️ Share yours now via the link in bio, or drop us a comment or DM.

Workshop dates and locations coming very soon 👀 Plus a community celebration event in January, and all 5 HOME projects on show at St George’s Hall in February.

Get involved, spread the word, this one’s for the whole community 💙

🎨 WORD FOR HOME - BELLE VALE 🎨

We're bringing something special to Belle Vale, and we need your help to make it happen!

Word For Home - Belle Vale is a new public art project delivered by dot-art, working with artists Joe Venning and Jodie Cavanagh (a proud Belle Vale local), as part of the council's wider HOME programme.

The project is all about hyper-local language: the words, sayings, slang and turns of phrase that are unique to Belle Vale. Not generic Scouse, but the specific way people talk right here, passed down through generations and used every day. We'll be gathering these directly from residents, from the area's oldest generation through to children growing up here now, and turning them into bold, large-scale murals across the area. There'll also be a free printed dictionary of local sayings, plus stickers and badges, so the project reaches into people's homes too, not just onto a wall.

We want as many people as possible involved, so here's how you can take part right now:

📝 Fill in our quick form: https://form.jotform.com/dotart/word-for-home-belle-vale
💬 Or just share a saying or phrase with us in the comments, or via Facebook/Instagram message

Workshop dates and locations will be announced very soon, so keep an eye on this page.

Looking ahead, we'll be holding a community celebration event in January to see the finished murals and meet the artists, and in February all 5 HOME projects will come together for an exhibition at St George's Hall.

Please share this post and help us spread the word. We want Belle Vale's own voice at the heart of this project 💙
