dot-art is a Liverpool based art organisation which exists to make affordable original art accessibl

dot-art was founded in Liverpool in 2006 and specialises in affordable, high quality, locally sourced art. We work with over 100 artists to provide an unrivaled choice of original art and limited edition prints for home or business, as well as offering a range of complementary services including; commissions, art rental, art consultancy, exhibition planning and implementation, bespoke framing, art valuation and restoration and artist sourcing. Artwork can be browsed at our gallery on Queen Avenue, our website (www.dot-art.com) and Rex: The Concept Store on Bold Street, Liverpool. dot-art supports visual artists and champions art as an integral part of everyday life. We do this by selling locally sourced, affordable art, working with businesses to put art in the workplace and public realm, running art classes and working with schools and community groups. All this is underpinned by our unique membership scheme for artists in the North West which gives access to all the activities above and a package of support and advice, creating and developing artists’ careers. All our work supports our not-for profit arm, dot-art Services CIC, which exists to support North-West based visual artists, both emerging and established, through a range of services and opportunities designed to help them develop their careers and gain exposure and promotion for their work, as well as delivering a programme of art classes across Liverpool; and dot-art Schools, our innovative inter school art competition, launched in 2012.

On now! Two of our dot-art Artist Members are collaborating for the next Art in the EV slot, we love to see it 😍

Fai McCabe's work embraces the optical illusions and pareidolia inherent in the structure of the humble Rubik's Cube, crafting immersive experiences that invite viewers to engage with shifting perspectives and hidden patterns.

Daniel Meakin is intrigued by his urban surroundings, whether they be in his home city of Manchester or further afield like London, Barcelona or Miami. He’s always on the look-out for visuals such as architectural features, composition, and general urban tapestry.

The two artists have come together to show their work alongside each other, and have even created a brand new tryptic work, combining both of their vibrant and joyful styles.

Meet the artists and see the work in person at this Saturday 17th 5-7pm, in the first floor bar area.

Works are available to see and purchase, until 27th October. Do make sure to check the opening hours of the theatre to avoid disappointment.

✨New work by artist member Dave Rayward is now online!

Drawing inspiration from classical literature, poetry and close observations of the natural world, Dave explores what he describes as a ‘poetic’ impulse — ideas and impressions that might otherwise find expression in a poem or piece of prose.

Through his use of mixed media, Dave creates works that evoke emotional and psychological responses, offering glimpses into the extraordinary within the seemingly commonplace.

Working with Procreate on his iPad, Andrey Storey explores the possibilities of digital painting, reinterpreting the visual language of traditional art while embracing the unexpected. His process is fast, dynamic and full of creative experimentation.

Andrew began his art career in his late twenties and is largely self-taught. He values the opportunity to share ideas and create alongside other artists, finding that working intuitively and developing his own approach has been key to his practice.

Excited to announce our next exhibition, CANOPY: A Year in Trees, with work from Hazel Thomson, Madeleine Pires and Rob Edmondson.

Here in the city centre, surrounded by buildings and the activity of urban life, it can be easy to overlook the quieter changes taking place around us. Yet the seasons are still visible in the trees that line our streets and parks: fresh green leaves in spring, the fullness of summer foliage, the changing colours of autumn and the bare branches of winter. CANOPY invites us to pause and notice these changes.

Each artist offers a different way of experiencing the natural world, exploring shifting light, colour, weather, atmosphere and the character of a place.

NOWHERE spotlight on: Hilary Dron

Works in this exhibition celebrate gesture, texture, colour and materiality. Drawing on fragments of memory, traces of lived experience and entirely imagined terrains, each artist constructs landscapes that exist somewhere between recognition and invention.

For Hilary, techniques involving oil and cold wax create atmospheric works inspired by remembered landscapes. She builds richly layered surfaces by scraping, dissolving and revealing previous marks, creating quiet, contemplative works that evoke the essence of place rather than its literal appearance.

All works are for sale, and ready to pluck from our walls to sit perfectly on yours. Drop in to see them in real life!

Welcoming our new dot-art artist member, Sophie Button.

Sophie’s work is often inspired by the beauty of nature. She enjoys working on a large scale and creating rich, tactile textures by combining modelling paste with acrylic paint on canvas. Gold acrylic and gold leaf feature prominently in her work, adding depth, light and a sense of drama.

More recently, Sophie has become fascinated by angel numbers and their meanings, which inspired her latest collection. These works combine calming colour palettes and ethereal qualities with metallic elements and gold leaf to create contrast and intensity.

NOWHERE spotlight on: Nathan Pendlebury

For Nathan, painting is an intuitive process. Rather than working towards a predetermined outcome, he allows colour, shape and composition to develop organically as each layer is added.

His paintings are rarely completed in a single sitting. He returns to them over time, allowing himself to see the work with fresh eyes and respond to what has emerged. This openness to the unexpected is central to Nathan’s practice. He describes the aim as creating a 'new glimpse': something that could not have been entirely planned or anticipated.
