Can you help us find 15-year-old Leo?

We are appealing for help to locate him after he was reported missing to us yesterday evening (Monday, 22 June 2026).

Leo was last seen in the area of Hull Paragon Interchange at approximately 6.15am this morning (Tuesday, 23 June) and is believed to have travelled out of Hull by train. We believe he may have travelled to the area of Cambridgeshire.

He is believed to be wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, black trainers, and a black woolly hat.

We would also like to say Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.

This Father’s Day, we would like to celebrate all the dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures, and carers who make a difference every day.

Across the Lowland Rescue family, many of our volunteers balance the demands of training, callouts, and operational readiness alongside family life. Their commitment to helping others is only possible because of the support, understanding, and encouragement they receive from those closest to them.

Whether they are teaching life lessons, offering a helping hand, providing a reassuring voice, or answering the call when someone needs help, fathers and father figures play an important role in strengthening our communities.

Today, we also remember those families waiting for loved ones to return home safely and reflect on the importance of the work carried out by search and rescue teams across the country.

From everyone at Lowland Rescue, we wish all fathers, father figures, and their families a happy and peaceful Father’s Day.

Although Drowning Prevention Week 2026 draws to a close today we look to be in for another phase of hot weather. The weather may be hot, but the water is not and whilst outdoor swimming can be a fun - it is not without risk. During last month's hot weather, at least 18 people died after getting into difficulty in the water, many of them teenagers.

Swimming in the sea, lakes and rivers is very different to a swimming pool because the water is cold. Cold water shock can affect anyone - even strong swimmers - and is the uncontrolled reaction of the body when suddenly immersed in cold water. It involves the involuntary sharp intake of air (and often water) impaired mobility and clear thinking and the onset of panic. Enter water gradually and if you get into difficulty on the water please remember to float to live.

Floating give you the chance to rest and recover your breathing and once you have regained control of your breathing, you can call for help or swim to safety.

13–20 June is Drowning Prevention Week and led by the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK and is focussing on educating children and young people in water safety ahead of summer.

Over the last five years, 3,615 people have tragically drowned in the UK and Ireland. This year, Drowning Prevention Week is expanding to reach 13-17-year-olds, as recent data reveals that drowning deaths among this age group have increased an alarming 67% between 2020-2022 and 2023-2025.

Ashley Jones, Head of Water Safety and Education at RLSS UK, said:
“We urge everyone to use RLSS UK’s free, accessible water safety resources to educate children and teens with critical information this June, to make sure everyone has a safe summer. Whilst a foundation of water safety will be included in England’s school curriculum from September, this vital information needs to be taught now, ahead of the summer period, and across the entire UK and Ireland to prevent tragedies. We can all contribute to creating communities free from drowning.”

A very sad ending indeed to the recent search we attended alongside our sister team Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue.

The body of a man has been found in Horringer, following searches for a missing 61-year-old man from Cambridgeshire.

No formal identification has taken place, but his family have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.

Drone training day in Derbyshire
Today, our team attended the first in a series of national drone training sessions. We took part in the LR National Level 2 Drone Observer training, which was run jointly by the national drone leads from both Lowland Rescue and Mountain Rescue England and Wales.

It was fantastic to collaborate and share best practices with representatives from multiple search and rescue teams across the country. Working together within the legal framework ensures we maximise drone technology and support our aircrews effectively.

Ultimately, these advanced skills mean we can search more efficiently and better support the search for missing people.
