The Actonians are a friendly drama group based in the village of Iron Acton, South Gloucestershire. We also have a youth group 'The Young Actonians'

We produce at least two shows a year in the Iron Acton Parish Hall, along with entries into One Act Play Festivals and Evenings of entertainment. Our repertoire is very varied, ranging from comedies like The Importance of Being Earnest to The Tempest. We have a very good reputation for the quality of our work and for being a friendly group, with an active social calendar during and between productions.

We had our first performance of Enchanted April last night and the audience feedback so far has been fantastic:

'A triumph- we absolutely loved it !'

'The perfect play- so heartwarming and genuine.'

' I felt as if I had been actually transported on holiday to Italy with the actors '

'So cleverly done, with so many locations to portray and scenes to set. I was amazed at how you did it all.'

'A very believable show with fantastic characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it. '

When 12 trees marched down Iron Acton Hgh Street this afternoon, we caused quite a scene!

No, it's not for Macbeth, but part of the beautiful Italian villa set for our production of Enchanted April, which is taking place NEXT WEEK on Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th May at Iron Acton Parish Hall, BS37 9UH.

We're busy getting everything ready to welcome our audiences. Why not come along and enjoy the show?

It begins in a rainy post war London in February; two women see an advert for a castle to rent in Italy for the month of April. They club together with two others for a women only holiday! We follow them into a glorious Italian spring - and so do three men!!

If you are enjoying listening to this week's BBC Radio 4 Extra's drama recording of the book Enchanted April by Elizabeth Von Arnim, why not come and watch a charming version of the play, performed by our Actonians drama group!

Adapted by Matthew Barber, this delightful production brings to life the Italian adventures of frustrated 1920s Hampstead housewives, Lotty and Rose. The Actonians are celebrating acting success at the AAD Short Play Festival 2026 with our two-handed play entry of 'A Life Sentence', written by our own Mark Seaman.

🏆Rob Pardoe won Best Supporting Performance of the festival
⭐Rebekah Grose received a nomination for Best Actress of the festival

It's a wrap! Thank you to all those who came to the performances of our pantomime Treasure Island. We really enjoyed having such fun and enthusiastic audiences. We hope that you enjoyed the show!

Avast ye landlubbers! The Actonians' production of Treasure Island will soon be setting sail for Iron Acton Parish Hall on 19th-22nd November, with 2 performances for ye scurvy dogs on Saturday 22nd November with a matinee at 2:30, perfect for junior apprentice pirates.
