We’re excited to share a major leadership update at Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.

🤍 💙 ❤️ 💚

Ali Gilbert has been appointed as our new Chair of Trustees and becomes the first woman to hold this role in our history. Dr Brett Bader has also been appointed Vice Chair of Trustees.

Ali brings extensive experience in health and care leadership, alongside a lifelong passion for rugby. Brett brings a strong background across education, healthcare, the military and business.

Together, they will help guide Wooden Spoon into its next chapter as we continue to support children and young people across the UK and Ireland to play, learn, thrive and be safe.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Quentin Smith for his nine years of dedicated leadership as Chair.

Here’s to the future 🫶🏻

Well…..What a night !!!!
The beautiful Penventon Park Hotel was once again the venue for Wooden Spoon - Cornwall’s Annual Charity Dinner, on Friday 17th April
Derek Bevan - Welsh International RFU legendary referee was our outstanding guest speaker for the night. Derek was simply brilliant. Funny, engaging and a great story teller, recanting wonderful memories of his outstanding career.
Derek was also able to reminisce with a fellow referee, Bolingey Barbarian Dave Driver, when they refereed together some 30 + years ago.

Following the dinner, Ed Buckland the evening’s auctioneer was yet again sublime.
“Thank-you so much, Ed”
It was very much appreciated.
In fact the evening raised an incredible £2375 !!!! Allowing us to continue the work of helping disadvantaged children in Cornwall through the projects we support.
So a very sincere ‘thank-you’ goes to everyone who kindly supported the event, including - Penventon Park Hotel, Moët Hennessy, Tehidy Park Golf Club, Truro Co-Op, SJ Andrew and Son, Sanders Fish & Chips, the Cornish Pirates and Redruth RFC.
Finally, once again “Thank- you, Derek,“ - You really did make our night
