Giving unwanted furniture a fresh start ♻️

A great idea from our resident-led Scrutiny group is already making a difference!

Following their recommendation, we partnered with Emmaus South Manchester to help reusable furniture find a new home instead of going to waste.

So far, 71 homes across M22 and M23 have used the service – helping reduce landfill, support our community and make better use of unwanted items 🙌

More children will be able to enjoy free yoga and wellbeing sessions thanks to support secured by our Community Development team for Mindful Munchkins 🧘💛

After listening to what would make the biggest difference to the group, our Community Development team worked with colleagues and GMS Services Ltd to secure more than £500 of support for new equipment – including yoga mats, weighted blankets and more 🙌

It means Mindful Munchkins can build on its brilliant free sessions, helping even more local children develop confidence, manage stress and anxiety, and enjoy some time to relax and recharge.

It’s a lovely example of what can happen when we listen to the great work already happening in our communities and use our connections to help it grow 🌱

From six months out of work to a brand-new career in construction 🎉

We're celebrating Callum, who has secured a full-time role with local contractor P.P. O'Connor after getting support from our Real Opportunities team 👏

Determined to work in construction, Callum took the initiative to complete his CSCS course before working with our Employment Co-ordinator, Poppi, to update his CV, prepare for interviews and apply for opportunities through our jobs bulletin.

His hard work paid off, and he's now working as a labourer on the Brotherton House demolition project, helping make way for new social homes as part of the Wythenshawe town centre regeneration 🏗️

This is exactly why we're proud to work alongside partners like P.P. O'Connor - creating real opportunities for local people to build new skills, find meaningful employment and kick-start rewarding careers.
