Hi, it’s Natalie. 💔
I am incredibly sad to tell you that today we said a loving, extremely emotional goodbye to our beautiful, cheeky Pierre or “Pod”, as we called him on the yard.
I can’t believe I’m writing this. I’m writing through tears and shock at this unexpected loss.
As you can imagine, my mum and I are absolutely devastated. My mum, Carole, bought Pierre for me when I lost my Dad, from the very beginning he became an incredibly important part of my life. I am beyond grateful he was mine 💔
Between him, Maxi and Rio, they have carried me through some incredibly tough times helping keep my head on my shoulders. Pierre kept me going through life, competing, testing me at every opportunity , teaching me and always being part of so many amazing experiences — right through to opening and growing our RDA.
Pierre has given so many people their first proper dressage ride and even turned his hoof to advanced RDA sessions. He gave riders the experience of feel and riding his huge majestic trot he taught them to be gentle in the hand. He was a horse in a million — totally brave, stunning and completely unspookable.
He also drove us absolutely mad! He loved climbing over wheel barrows to escape then waiting to be brought back with Rich Tea biscuits! Often pulling at his metal clip on the door entertaining visitors to get attention or to try and get out, carrying obstacles around in his mouth showing his lack of spacial awareness making us all laugh. He really was such a huge character at the stables and was a really great personality.
We always joked that he would never grow up playing fast and forever being a big kid, especially when he was playing pretty rough with his bestie, Maxi. I’m so pleased they had so many wonderful memories together and got to see and experience so much.
I’m really struggling to hold back the tears I am lost. He meant the absolute world to me. He gave me the drive to teach others, while keeping me completely addicted to horses that lead to creating ELRDA.
I know lots of you will be upset, but I truly believe he knew just how appreciated and loved he was and I will always think about that loved beyond words.
Please keep him in your thoughts, talk about him and remember his amazing ways and silly ways!
Seeing life from behind your ears was the best seat ever 💔keep being silly and eat lots of biscuits 🍪
Run free, my big bear, Pod. ❤️Knowing you are loved beyond measure, and always will be.
