06/01/2025
Tonight (6th January) is the last night of the 2024/2025 display. We hope you've enjoyed the lights this festive period.
We hope to put on a full display next Christmas and our volunteers will continue to do the best they can with the resources they have but, as always, it's worth reminding our followers of the below.
• The lights are completely organised by volunteers who give their time and expertise freely around work and family commitments.
• Stratford’s Lights cover 14 different streets, making it the biggest display in the West Midlands and the biggest in the country comparable to the size of the Town the lights cover.
• Locally, we are lucky to have some great Christmas Lights in our surrounding small Towns and Villages such as Henley and Alcester to name just a couple. These are organised by brilliant volunteer teams however Stratford-upon-Avon’s display is the only of its size and expense in the country to still be organised by volunteers. Warwick, for example, is organised by Warwick Town Council and Leamington in Partnership between their Town and District Councils and BID.
• The display is never guaranteed. Without the funding needed or enough volunteers the area the lights cover could be made smaller or the lights not put up at all.
• Volunteers have been organising Stratford’s lights for the last 41 years. Today the display receives less than half of the funding than it did originally.
