Hope you are all enjoying the summer and not overheating.
Here is some information about a partial Solar Eclipse that we will be able to see in the UK on 12th August. This will be the most complete we will be able to see for the next 100 years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Dont look directly at the sun...

Partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026 as seen from Barnstaple, United Kingdom. 93.98% obscuration. Exact local times from a precision astronomical engine.

Come along to Edgbarrow school field to watch our Scouts and explorers take part in a fairly unique activity available to all as part of the Crowthorne Carnival week.
From 7 pm - 9pm there will be training and some knock out races at a specially adapted field gun run (those old enough remember the royal tournament?) and this year is even bigger and better.
Pizzas, ice pops (bring your money)
Teams from the guides, the fire brigade and adult volunteers also
A great friendly atmosphere
Bring your water bottles and apply your suncream although there will be shelter and water available.

If not in one of the groups signed up you must come as a family and accompany any young people.

Was fantastic to have 3 of our groups with their older scouts attending and supporting such a great initiative from our County programme team. We hope they all had a wonderful and educational time.
