After six years of It’s Our Day, we are officially closing our doors.
We want to thank everyone for supporting us, volunteering for us, fundraising for us and believing in us. Since we established in 2018, we have seen a significant increase in conversations and awareness around Primary Prevention. There is still a long way to go, but there are a lot more organisations out there using their voice to push it forward.
It’s Our Day is made up of volunteers, and as the organisation has continued to grow, the resources required to maintain success and progress has grown with it. Unfortunately, after many attempts to build our volunteer base and funds, we have no option but to acknowledge we do not have the resources needed to sucessfully sustain It’s Our Day. We have therefore taken the very difficult decision to dissolve the Charity.
As you will be aware the Charity was born out a tragic circumstances, driven by people with lots of passion but not much experience, even so its list of acheivements can not be underestimated, just some of them are listed below:
- Commissioned a Leeds Student Mental Health Report.
- Successfully ran an Outreach Programme, also known as the Breakfast club, supprting 300+ students a week.
- Delivered informative presentations to higher education students, setting expectations for university life and beyond.
- Commissioned a short film about: University Expectations vs Reality.
- Worked with Students to create a General, and Student E-Book to support their mental well-being.
There’s a lot more we could say, but most importantly we want to say Thankyou. It’s Our Day originally started as Emma’s Embrace with the aim to support as many young people as possible. For the volunteers of Emma’s Embrace, this isn’t the end. Our ambition and passion will continue as we support other charities, and continue the important conversations. We ask you to do the same.
These six year would not have been possible without every single one of you,
It’s Our Day 💚
