It is also worth looking at the previous concerns raised by NGOs in Sierra Leone about SLANGO fees under Moped.(see current fees on the petition link below).

At the SLANGO AGM held in December 2023, members challenged a proposed 100% increase in registration and renewal fees. Members agreed that the existing fees should remain, with concerns that increasing the fees could discourage NGOs from joining or remaining within the organisation.

The figures agreed at the time were NLe 2,433.65 for renewal of a national NGO and NLe 4,532.65 for an international NGO.

The current fees published by SLANGO are now NLe 4,867 for national NGO renewal and NLe 9,065 for international NGO renewal.

This raises a reasonable question about when and why these fees were increased again, who authorised the increase, and what justification was given for the change. If members had previously raised concerns about higher fees creating a barrier for NGOs, there should be a clear explanation for the subsequent increase.

At WCC Farming Project, we're dedicated to growing food and creating hope in our community. Based in Waterloo, Sierra Leone, we currently manage 6 acres of land for small-scale farming. Last year, our harvest helped feed families in need, and this upcoming season, we aim to provide even more by selling wholesale and creating jobs for local youth.
