🚨 Housing has been downgraded in the Scottish Government's new cabinet and that's deflating to see.

Moving from a dedicated Cabinet role to a shared portfolio risks sending the wrong message during a housing emergency.

We look forward to working with Shirley-Anne Somerville on the Housing Emergency Action Plan, and we support action on more homes, protecting rights, and tackling racism and bias in the housing system.

But without a dedicated seat at the top table, housing organisations will need to keep speaking out to make sure promises turn into action.

Shelter Scotland and Lothian Buses have an ongoing partnership where new life is given to lost and unclaimed property left behind on Lothian Buses fleet, which is then sold through our shops.

In the past 12 months, this has resulted in:
🟢 £12,800 raised from the sale of these items
🟢 Over 3,100 items being sold
🟢 Nearly one tonne of waste diverted from landfill

These vital funds help us continue to support people and families hit hardest by the .

Lothian’s ongoing partnership with Shelter Scotland has raised £12,800 over the course of the last year through the sale of unclaimed lost property.

Since 2024, we have been giving new life to lost property by donating unclaimed items left on our vehicles to Shelter Scotland. The charity then resells these goods through its network of shops across the city, turning forgotten belongings into valuable support.

Over the past 12 months, the initiative has resulted in:
🔹 £12,800 raised from the sale of donated items
🔹 3,149 items sold
🔹 0.95 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill

The money raised is enough to help answer calls to over 230 families in crisis, as well as fund 260 webchats to support people with expert advice on housing issues.
