Empower My Health is a charity dedicated to supporting those living with long term conditions. Living with a long term condition can feel pretty over whelming and unfair. Often it means regular visits to the doctor, unpleasant symptoms and every day life is commonly very challenging. In some situations such as some cancers, it can even be life threatening. Many of us know that healthy lifestyles
can play a significant role in preventing chronic conditions; BUT did you know most long term conditions can be helped hugely by simple things such as getting physically active and eating well? For example, studies have seen a 70% reduction in mortality rates in cancer patients that are moderately active. Studies also show a reduction in relapses between 30-50% in breast, prostate and bowel cancer. That amounts to many potential lives that could avoid reliving the horrors of cancer a second time round. And it’s not just cancer, nor is it all about future health, more than anything it’s about empowering hope, a sense of control and most importantly, improving participant quality of life. Empower My Health support a range of chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes,heart disease,obesity, MS (and other muscular neurological conditions) and auto immune disorders to name but a few. Our objective is to ensure that those who need it most, have access to lifestyle support services often not covered by the healthcare system. We’re very lucky to see the amazing affects this support has on our participant groups and we’re determined to reach as many as possible!
