We are reaching out to you as one of our HAU Engineering Alumni, in the hope that you may be willing to help us out with a project on increasing the recruitment of young talent into Engineering.

We are looking to showcase the varied and exciting careers that our HAU Engineering graduates have gone into – with the hope of attracting more students both to Harper and into the sector as a whole. Your journey and successes since leaving Harper are something we feel would inspire the next potential generation of engineers, and hence we’d welcome your input to the project.

Research indicates that young people - and the vast majority of teachers, careers advisors, and parents - don’t understand what the role of an Engineer actually is…and that this is significantly limiting the pool of people who even consider applying in the first place.

To help provide insight into what Engineering is, we are running a project to develop a range of short clips of our alumni students in their workplace, giving some brief insight into what your day may entail and the environment in which you are based. Our aspiration is - by showcasing the different types of role and industries available - that learners will see an opportunity that sparks their interest and hence become motivated to pursue an engineering career (and hopefully through Harper and ultimately onwards to yourselves)!
We are fortunate to have Sam Mitchum (HAU Engineering Graduate, recently of Prodrive -  and documentary film-maker for the HAU Rally Team) leading on developing the media resources – and he would be available to visit you on-site to capture your thoughts if you could spare us some of your time?

If you’d be willing to support this project or would like to discuss further, please do get in touch.
