We are incredibly reassured to know that our specialist education programme 📙✍️ has helped them feel safer, supported their recovery, and increased their understanding of the warning signs to look out for in the future 👁️‍🗨️

Hearing how our work empowers young people to recognise risks, build confidence, and move forward with greater safety, reminds us why this specialist support is so important 🤝

Catching up on service offers and referral pathways was incredibly helpful and provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen our partnership working. It also helped ensure that we can continue to offer the best possible support to our clients and their families.

TOGETHER TUESDAY 📣📣⬇️⬇️📣📣 We recently had the opportunity to meet up with Christina one of the safeguarding leads at South Tyneside College, to review referral pathways and explore further opportunities for collaboration 🤝

Christina has been an invaluable support to SURT and a key safeguarding link within the college's safeguarding team. Christina has now moved on to a new role, and we wish her all the best for the future! 🙌

We now look forward to working with her replacement ensuring that TOGETHER we keep young people safe from harm 🙌

What an incredible 6 years it has been, and we are so thankful for the continued support, encouragement, and investment from our local community 🙏

When we first set up SURT, our vision was simple — to create a service that truly helps local young people stay safe and thrive. Since then, our offer has continued to grow in response to the needs of the families and young people we support.

✅ Over the years, we have expanded the age range of the young people we work with so we can support more individuals for longer.

✅ We have trained and specialised in Child to Parent Violence and Abuse (CPVA) , enabling us to support caregivers experiencing harm from their children.

✅ We’ve also widened volunteering opportunities for both young people and community members, helping us to reach more people while educating professionals and families to ensure they are aware of the specialist support available.

✅ Our SURT Board has also expanded , bringing with it a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience that continues to guide our development and future growth.

✅ We have built strong relationships with local businesses and partners and have been fortunate to secure funding through grants and commissioned services. This vital investment enables us to provide free specialist support to individuals across South Tyneside and offer development opportunities that our families would not normally have access to.

💪🏻 We may be a small service, but we are mighty. Preventing and Stopping Relationship Abuse is at the heart of everything we do — helping young people and families to be safer and happier.We remain rooted in the heart of our community, and our dedication to Stopping Unsafe Relationships will never waver!!

🗣️ We may be small in numbers, but our voice is loud when it comes to local, regional, and national influence and we will continue to advocate, educate, and champion the needs of the young people and families we support 🤝👥🤝

TOGETHER we are making a real difference — and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
