Happy Volunteers’ Week! ⭐

We’re proud to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week - marking 42 years of saying thank you to all volunteers who selflessly give their time to help others.

So far in 2026, our volunteers have given 1500+ hours of their time - a 50% increase on last year’s activity!

We are so grateful for every second our volunteers give to Hands - they truly make a huge impact on the lives of the elderly, housebound and socially isolated residents of Twickenham and St Margarets.

Jack and Tim really are what Befriending at Hands is all about.

After Jack spent a spell in hospital recently, the pair were thrilled to be reunited yesterday and were right back to their usual tricks, catching up, talking about history, and most importantly - having a laugh!

Befriending means so much to our clients and volunteers - it provides comfort in tough times and company in lonely times.

We had a fantastic time at Holly Lodge’s authentic Victorian pharmacy on Wednesday!

Our clients really enjoyed learning about the history of hygiene and medication, and making two types of soap! 🧼

We are looking forward to our Nature Trail visit in July, and our workshop on the History of Richmond Park in August.

We’re really looking forward to another fantastic session at The Holly Lodge Centre next Wednesday!

This time, we’ll be doing their Soap Reminiscence Workshop. Our clients and volunteers will be visiting their genuine Victorian Pharmacy, which was once based in Sheen Lane, and will have the opportunity to learn about the history of health and hygiene - as well as make two kinds of soap!

We have two other sessions at Holly Lodge booked for the summer - keep an eye out for our next newsletter which will be coming our next week for more information!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming Barbara from Strawberry Hill House to give a talk on Horace Walpole and the House.
Barbara really is a font of all knowledge on the subject, and our clients were captivated by her talk!
