Richmond Junior Chess Club

Richmond Junior Chess Club Richmond Junior Chess Club meets Saturday afternoons in term time from 2:00 to 5:00. Sections for beginners, novices, intermediate and advanced players.

Richmond Junior Chess Club was originally founded in 1975 as an offshoot of Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club, the local adult chess club. We have worked closely together ever since. RTCC meets at the Bowls Club in Twickenham every Thursday evening. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that our older, more experienced students are welcome to take up league chess with RTCC. Further details at RTCC – Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club.

Moreover, we are planning a challenge match against some of the RTCC regulars, provisionally set for Saturday, 9th May, at Orleans Park School, from 13:00 to 17:30. More closer to the time.

Richmond Juniors was originally founded in 1975 as an offshoot of Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club (RTCC).

A considerable number of Richmond Junior's former students have taken their chess further with RTCC over the years since.

RTCC has been one of London’s leading chess clubs since its foundation in 1958 from the merger of a couple of local clubs, and currently meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 10:30 at the Cambridge Park Bowls Club, Cambridge Park, TWICKENHAM TW1 2PG. The club provides competitive chess at all levels, with teams in the London League, Thames Valley League and the Surrey League, with regular matches against other local clubs. It also provides opportunities for social chess at all levels. Most weeks during the match play season (October to April) there will be a match on, but there will usually be a dozen or so social players, ranging from near beginners to first team stars, there as well.
