Brethren from Middlesex were honoured to attend the District Grand Assembly of the District Grand Lodge of Spain, held at the Crystal Auditorium, Gran Hotel Bali in Benidorm.

It was a wonderful opportunity to support the District and join Brethren from across Spain and beyond in what was a superbly conducted Assembly.

The day concluded with an excellent Festive Board, filled with great company, laughter and strong fellowship, making the event both memorable and thoroughly enjoyable.

Our sincere thanks go to the District Grand Lodge of Spain and all those involved in organising such a successful and welcoming Assembly.

The 2024 Provincial Assembly held on 4 th April was a significant one this year, as it was the last one over which our Provincial Grand Master, Eddy Garty, presided. As many members know, he will be standing down as PGM later this year after 7 years of excellent service to Middlesex Mark Province.

This year’s Assembly was again hosted by the Middlesex Installed Commanders’ Lodge. After the Provincial Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial Officers, the meeting was opened in due form.

On Friday, the 23rd of February, our Provincial Grand Master R.W. Bro. Eddy Garty was installed into the chair of Caledonian Craft Lodge No. 134 at Great Queen Street. Caledonian is a lodge of Scottish origin that was founded 257 years ago. Eddy's first role as Master was to welcome the Past Grand Master of Scotland into the lodge as an Honorary member, having just been voted in, further cementing the Scottish bond. The Lodge also welcomed three more joining members.

Eddy looked as regal and comfortable as ever, occupying yet another the chair of King Solomon. I am sure the lodge will flourish under his guidance and direction, and we wish him every success and happiness for the next 12 months in a lodge he clearly relishes.

Eddy had the support of his London counterpart in R.W. Bro Tom Quin, the PGM for London., and members of his own executive team.

As you can imagine, the festive board was a burns night affair with the Haggis being piped in and addressed as per tradition. The Master's song was carried out by Tom Quin and joined in wholeheartedly at every chorus by the many members and guests.

Temple Lodge of Mark Masters No. 173 celebrated its sesquicentenary meeting at its normal meeting place, 10 Duke Street London, on the 15th of February in the presence of the Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master John Herbert Prizeman who presented to the Lodge the 150th birthday Warrant. This very special meeting was also attended by the Provincial Grand Master Edward R. Garty and his executive team, together with 12 active Provincial Grand Officers. We dined together afterwards at the infamous East India Club, St James Square.

The Whole afternoon and evening was a fitting tribute to the lodge's continuous 150 years of service; there were lots of tales of times gone by and much positivity about what might happen in the future. A meeting that I am sure will be regaled for many years to come.

I attended the Valentine's Lunch at Uxbridge Masonic Centre this lunchtime; it was all I expected it to be. 76 of us enjoyed a fantastic carvery lunch provided by Martin, the chef, and served by Bridget and her team of helpers. I was offered the opportunity to address the guests just before the raffle was drawn; this I did by thanking the chairman of the centre, Paul Craker, and his team, the catering and serving staff; I gave a quick resume on the work the MBF carries out and details of recent. Grants to Blood Bikes, St John Ambulance service, the RMBI, and hospices. The raffle was drawn with 20 plus prizes on offer and raised £ 440.00 going towards the MBF.
All in all a great day was shared with many friends.

V.W. Bro. John M Edwards P.G.J.O.

It is with deep regret and great sadness that I write to inform you of the death of V.W. Bro. John Edwards, who passed away on Sunday 28th January after suffering a major heart attack.

He had been a member of Middlesex Mark for more than 30 years, that included over 10 years serving on the Executive as Provincial Grand Secretary and Assistant Provincial Grand Master.

His contribution to the successful growth of the Middlesex Province, particularly for the Royal Ark Mariner order, is immeasurable.

He was a kind, courteous and gentle man, who was helpful to others, and his positive attitude always encouraged those around him.

I will miss him greatly, as will many of you, and I ask that you remember him at your next meeting in the traditional manner. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Beverley, and all his family.

Edward R Garty Provincial Grand Master.

Chilling out before the storm of the District Grand Lodge of Spain on Saturday.

Welcome to the home of Master Masons and Royal Ark Mariners for the Province of Middlesex. Being the fourth regular step in Freemasonry, means we have a long history and are part of the orginal story of how Freemasonry was formed and took shape within Masonic circles of the United Kingham.

Thursday 25th January 2024 – Duke of Connaught Mark Lodge, No. 199 – Harrow

Anyone in the vicinity of Northwick Circle on 25th January must have wondered what was going on in the Masonic Centre, when the sound of bagpipes came roaring out. This was the Burns Night meeting, which was hosted on behalf of Middlesex Province by Duke of Connaught Mark Lodge, and attended by around 65 brethren.

The Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Edward R Garty, entered in procession, along with members of the Provincial Executive and other Provincial Officers. RW Bro Garty was resplendent in his kilt and full Scottish dress, and was proceeded by a piper, which created the right atmosphere for the occasion
