Last week we were privileged to attend One Richmond's Dragons' Den-inspired event which took place at The Exchange in Twickenham.

Alongside five other local charities, we were invited to share the impact of our work and we are delighted to announce that we were awarded funding from three of the 'Dragons'.

We would like to say a huge Thank You to One Richmond for creating such a brilliant platform to connect local charities, businesses and philanthropists. Thank you too to the headline sponsor, Kier Group, for making the event possible, to the Dragons - Lord John Lee of Trafford, Chanade Ramsay from Kier Construction, Will le Fleming from Thomas’s College, and Sylvia Parsonage from Parsonage & Co for their generous support. To broadcasting legend Jim Rosenthal for hosting the event and to Rob Addis Photography for capturing the evening.

We're rounding off - keeping our Carers informed through our Learning lunches also helps build carer friendly communities.

The next one is on Friday 26th June - Carers Assessments with Michelle Stone, Social Care Assessor for the Community and Advice Support Team with advice on the benefits of having a carer's assessment.

These lunches are for registered carers only supporting those 18+ with their mental health. Please email: [email protected] to join.

- another way we build carer friendly communities is caring for our Carers' mental and physical wellbeing through Arts and Crafts activities, and Chair Yoga.

Our Arts & Crafts Group is a relaxed, friendly space created especially for carers to unwind, get creative, and connect with others who understand the challenges and rewards of caring. Each session offers simple, enjoyable craft activities suitable for all skill levels, no previous experience needed!

There are many good reasons for taking up Chair Yoga. For instance using your chair for seated poses or balancing poses, provides benefits such as increased circulation; feelings of well-being; and decreases in blood pressure, anxiety, inflammation and pain.

These groups are for registered carers only supporting those 18+ with their mental health. Please email: [email protected] to join.

this year is all about building carer friendly communities.

One of the ways we do is by creating a network of Carers through a wide range of social activities. 💕

For Carers Week we have a special Salsa evening on Wednesday 10 June, 6-9pm.

👉 This event is for registered carers only supporting those 18+ with their mental health. Please email: [email protected] to join.

Today is the beginning of and this year it’s all about building carer friendly communities.

Carer friendly communities are places, spaces, services and community groups where unpaid carers are recognised, understood and valued.

We are so proud to be part of a movement to better support carers across the UK.

Watch this space all week for posts highlighting how we help to build carer friendly communities.

– today it's our Peer Volunteer Ashley on how he got involved in volunteering with us:

“During October 2015, I completed my Peer Volunteer Training (6 days of various topics) with RB Mind. I was presented with my Certificate of Achievement at the AGM.

"At present, I am a member of the following groups: Mind Readers (since 2016) Walking (since 2017) and Litter Challenge.

“I enjoy all the groups especially Mind Readers where you read a book a month.”

Watch this space for more from our amazing volunteers tomorrow!

Continuing our campaign celebrating our dedicated team of volunteers, here is a short interview with our Trustee, Sarah Talbot.

What motivated you to become a Trustee?
Mental health has touched my life personally and through my family and close friends. Becoming a Trustee provided a way to apply the skills I have learned in my day job to an organisation doing such important work in my local community.

What has been the most rewarding part of your role?
Working with such a committed team who put the needs of their clients at the heart of everything they do. This is reflected in the excellent services RB Mind provides.

What advice would you give someone considering becoming a Trustee?
Honestly, just do it. We need varied voices on a board and so, as long as you are a champion for your charity’s beneficiaries, you will be adding value.
