Dear CODA Members and Subscribers,

We were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rupert Preston Bell, Chairman of the Tunbridge Wells International Music Festival, Music Director at King Charles the Martyr and much-respected friend of CODA. Nobody has done more to raise the profile of classical music in Tunbridge Wells, bringing in artists such as The Schubert Ensemble, Michael Collins, Mark Padmore and Gerald Finley (to name but a few). Rupert was always incredibly supportive of CODA and he will be very much missed by the musical and wider community. Our sincere condolences go out to his wife, Caroline and his family.

Rupert spent a great deal of time in his final days putting plans in place to ensure the Tunbridge Wells International Music Festival goes ahead as planned, which is reflective of the dedication and generosity he showed throughout his life. The festival starts on Sunday and we look forward to seeing many of you at various events, which will stand as testimony to him and his work.
