๐Ÿ‘‹ On Friday 4th September, 2:30-3:30, there will be a dry introduction and information session at St. Austell Leisure Centre. This is a chance for people who are interested in swimming to come along and see the pool, as well as meet the swim teacher. There will be no swimming on this day, just a chance to ask questions and give ideas about what will make this swimming session as good as it can be. You could also sign up if you haven't already.

๐Ÿฆ Some people have already signed the early bird swimming register and their place is guaranteed in the first week. We will be getting in touch with those individuals to confirm whether they are still interested.

"I need to get fit, but I don't want to wreck my joints." ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

This is one of the biggest reasons people come to WalkActive.

You want to feel fitter.
You want more energy.
You want to move more.

But you don't want fitness to feel punishing, painful or impossible to keep up.

That's where walking can be powerful โ€” especially when it's coached.

Here's a stat worth knowing: walking is far gentler on your joints than running, which increases hip force by around 83% and knee force by a massive 134% compared to walking.

WalkActive helps you improve how you walk, so you're not just stacking more steps on top of poor habits ๐Ÿšซ

You learn how to use posture, pace, foot placement and rhythm ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธโžก๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ to make walking feel more effective and more supported.

It's fitness that fits real life: school runs, dog walks, park loops, holidays, lunch breaks, and "I've got 15 minutes before it rains" moments.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Try The WalkActive Club with our Taster at www.walkactive.com, and learn how to make walking work harder for you.

Weโ€™re really pleased to be starting a new monthly CAAN social meet-up for autistic adults (18+) at Chacewater W.I. Hall, just outside Truro.

๐Ÿ“… Starting Saturday 19th September
๐Ÿ•™ 10:15am โ€“ 11:45am
๐Ÿ“ Chacewater W.I. Hall, TR4 8PY
๐Ÿš— Free parking
๐Ÿ’š Free to attend

Weโ€™ve limited the meet-up to 20 places to help keep the space comfortable, calm and manageable for everyone attending.

Our meet-ups are relaxed, friendly and peer-led. Thereโ€™s no pressure to socialise in any particular way. Youโ€™re welcome to chat, bring a book, do some crafts, sit quietly, or simply come along and see how you feel.

Refreshments will be available, and youโ€™re welcome to bring your own drink or snack too.

CAAN provides peer-led social meet-ups rather than care or respite. Our volunteers are not trained support workers and cannot take responsibility for individual care or support needs. Adults attending should either be able to participate independently or attend with their usual support person.

๐Ÿ’š Find out more and book:

Please share this with anyone who might be interested, but do remind them that booking is required before attending.

What is Letโ€™s Talk?
We believe that parents and carers have a really important role in keeping our children and young people safe.
We think it is essential that you know about the current issues our children and young people are facing.
As parents ourselves, we know how valuable it can be to have tips on how to speak to our children and young people and what we can do to help, guide and support them.
Building safer families, together.
