Thank You, Councillor Jim McKenna,

Healthwatch Cornwall would like to express its sincere thanks to Councillor Jim McKenna, Cornwall Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health Partnerships, for his continued support of Healthwatch Cornwall and for publicly championing the importance of retaining an independent voice for people using health and social care services across Cornwall.

In a recent letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Councillor McKenna highlighted the importance of independence, transparency and accountability in ensuring that the experiences of local people continue to influence decision-making. The letter also draws upon recent evidence published by The King's Fund, which reinforces the value of an independent patient voice.

We would also like to thank Ben Maguire MP for his endorsement and support of the letter, demonstrating a shared commitment to ensuring the voices of Cornwall's residents continue to be heard at both a local and national level.

While discussions regarding future reforms continue, Healthwatch Cornwall remains focused on what we do every day – listening to people, gathering insight, highlighting what matters to our communities and working with partners to improve health and social care services across Cornwall.

Thank you, Councillor McKenna and Ben Maguire MP, for your support of Healthwatch Cornwall and your commitment to ensuring the people of Cornwall continue to have a strong and independent voice.
