Free swimming over the Summer holidays for young people and families 👏👏👏

Children and young adults can enjoy free swimming at pools across East Lothian as part of the Scottish Government’s Summer of Sport 2026 scheme.
The free sessions will be available for all swimmers aged 26 and under from Monday, 29 June until Friday, 7 August.
Free family swimming sessions will also allow up to two parents or carers to accompany children and young people in the water.
We're providing this free access along with Enjoy Leisure from 11am each day during normal public swimming times at five pools in the county - Aubigny Sports Centre in Haddington, Mercat Gait Centre in Prestonpans, Dunbar Leisure Pool, Musselburgh Sports Centre and North Berwick Sports Centre.
We're using a £243,000 award from the £20 million Summer of Sport national initiative - which is funded by the Scottish Government and facilitated by sportscotland - to cover the costs.
The free swims are aimed at reducing barriers to participation in sport so more young people have the chance to stay healthy and active.

One of the many projects funded last year, aimed at young people from the Fa’side area.

Cant wait to pop along a hear how they have progressed.

And tonight we've got our 40 piece strong Pulse band! 😁

Small allotments, BIG ambitions!🌱🪏

Join us at Muirpark Allotments in Tranent for a friendly and practical conversation about growing food in all kinds of spaces. From back gardens and balconies to community plots and allotments.

We'll be joined by the remarkable Stan da Prato, one of Scotland's most respected gardeners and community growing champions. Stan has spent decades supporting gardening clubs, schools and community groups across East Lothian, earning more than 1,300 first prizes for his plants and a Royal Horticultural Society Community Champion Award along the way.

Learn how every community growing space – no matter how small – can play a role!

🚨In response to our community’s feedback, we will be closing the
Foodbank for a week- Mon 15th- Friday 19th of June to
make some changes to our warehouse so we can improve our service.

The Foodbank doors will open again on Mon the 22nd
of June, during our closure we recommend checking the council’s website: https://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/info/210634/covid-19/12506/food_resources_in_east_lothian

🌿 Fridays just got a bit more magical... 🌿

For the next three weeks, our Play Rangers are setting up camp in the beautiful Forest Garden in Tranent. It is the perfect community space to play, relax and shake off the school week.

Drop by on Fridays (29th May, 5th June, 12th June) between 12pm and 2pm. We’ll have games, sketching supplies out, plenty of spaces to just sit and relax and—of course—free snacks!

It’s free, fun, friendly and everyone is welcome. See you in the garden! 🪵🐛
