Community groups, charities and third sector organisations are invited to apply for One Council Partnership funding 👇

Local community groups, charities and third sector organisations can now apply for this year’s funding awards from our One Council Partnership Fund (OCPF).
The application window for 2027/28 grant funding opened today (Tuesday, 1 September) and closes on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
OCPF funding enables us to support community organisations in their work to help to reduce inequalities and make East Lothian a better place to live.
The OCPF issued over £1.3 million in grants for 2026/27 to more than 30 community-based groups across the county.

I am delighted to let you know about a new accessible Tai-Chi Qigong Class. Exercises are gentle and can be done either sitting or standing. Chris is a very experienced supportive teacher and moves are adapted to enable everyone to join in. Get in contact with me if you'd like to find out more.

Notice of road closure from Meadowmill Roundabout to Longniddry westbound.

A section of the A198 westbound lane near Prestonpans will be closed on Monday, 17 August for five days to allow new roadside safety barriers to be installed.
The closure will be in place between Meadowmill Roundabout and the junction with Fishergate Road until Friday, 21 August, weather permitting.
The eastbound lane will remain open during this period.
A signed diversion route for westbound traffic will be in operation along Lyars Road, the B1348/Links Road, Long Craigs, Fishergate Road, Alder Road, and the B6371.
The lane closure is required for the safety of motorists and site operatives.
We apologise for any inconvenience while these essential improvements are carried out.
Updates on road restrictions will be published on Tell Me Scotland at https://orlo.uk/Rk2hW which we use to notify the public of roadworks and temporary traffic management arrangements.

Delighted to be at the opening of the amazing new Crookston Willow Play Area with Council staff, Councillors and Community groups and to also launch the new Tranent Tree Town Project.

Councillor Colin McGinn, Cabinet Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing and Sport, Countryside and Leisure, said: “The council is delighted to be working in partnership with Natural Connections on Tranent Tree Town and I’m so pleased this wonderful scheme has now been launched.
“Tranent currently has one of the lowest levels of tree cover in East Lothian and I’m sure this community-led scheme will bring about much-needed improvement, especially in residential areas. Trees can provide many health benefits, including better air quality and reduced stress levels.
“I believe Tranent Tree Town will create a model which can be rolled out across other communities in the county which are also in need of greater urban tree canopy cover.”

Why?
Tranent has some of the lowest tree cover in East Lothian. We want to try and change that working in partnership with other local projects, groups and individuals
• Trees are great for the environment
• Trees provide homes and food for wildlife
• Trees capture carbon, provide shade and clean our air

What’s happening?
Over the next three years we plan to encourage and support the local community in planting and caring for trees in and around Tranent.

Who’s involved
Thanks to funding from The Urban Forestry Challenge Fund from Future Woodlands Scotland. Local charity Natural Connections and East Lothian Council Amenity Services will be working together in partnership with local schools, community groups and residents.
