It is with the deepest sadness we share the news that our beloved friend and colleague Kieran Metcalfe died on Tuesday 29 July after a two year battle with cancer.
Kieran joined the fledgling Resound Worship group as a songwriter in the late 2000s, publishing several songs with us, before going freelance in graphic and web design and creating and managing the current Resound and Jubilate websites. In more recent years he brought our agency into the 21st century with a new rights and royalties management system, before creating the collaborative songwriting platform Songclub that now hosts our 12 Song Challenge community.
During that time, Kieran moved from a freelance role to becoming employed by the Song & Hymn Writers foundation as our in-house developer, becoming a much loved member of our staff team.
Whether as a writer, a contractor or a colleague, he has been at the heart of everything we have done for nearly 20 years and we truly couldn't have got this far without his skills, passion, and creative and generous spirit. There was so much more we planned to do together, but we are grateful that were able to walk this part of the journey together and we will continue to build upon these foundations.
Our hearts are broken, and our souls today are downcast, but we do not grieve as those without hope. In Kieran's own words:
