Our incredible Mystery Mermaid and her inspiring
11-year-old Mini Mermaid have completed their challenge.

Together, they have swum over 9 miles to raise vital awareness for su***de prevention and mental health support.

Currently they have raised £380 which goes toward 20 counselling sessions.

Our incredible Mystery Mermaid and her inspiring
11-year-old Mini Mermaid are on the home stretch of their extraordinary 590-length challenge for Torfaen Talks CIC!

Together, they have swum over 9 miles to raise vital awareness for su***de prevention and mental health support, with every single pool length carrying a powerful meaning:
440 lengths - Remembering the 440 Welsh lives lost to suspected su***de (April 2024-March 2025)
135 lengths - The estimated 135 people impacted by every single su***de loss.
15 lengths - 15 loved ones deeply and directly affected.

Progress Update:
Mystery Mermaid: 440 lengths COMPLETED!
Mini Mermaid: 135 lengths COMPLETED!

The Final Stretch: This week, they'll dive in side-by-side to swim the final 15 lengths together!

Bereavement by su***de leaves a heavy, painful weight. Accessible, affordable counselling saves lives, and we are on a mission to raise £1,000 so Torfaen Talks CIC can keep offering essential local talking therapies to those who need them most.

🌊 Every length represents a life, a story, and a ripple of hope. 💙

This October, Torfaen Talks CIC’s Mystery Mermaid and our incredible 11-year-old Mini Mystery Mermaid are joining forces to take on an extraordinary challenge!

Together, they’re aiming to swim 590 lengths (over 9 miles) to raise awareness and support for local mental health:

🏊‍♀️ 440 lengths – Representing 440 Welsh people lost to suspected su***de between April 2024 & March 2025. (Mermaid has completed 265 lengths, with 175 to go!)

🏊‍♀️ 135 lengths – Representing the 135 people affected by a single su***de. (Mini Mermaid has completed 85 lengths, with 50 to go!)

🏊‍♀️ 15 lengths – Representing the 15 loved ones directly and deeply impacted by each loss.

Bereavement by su***de leaves a heavy weight, and accessible, affordable counselling saves lives.

Every penny raised helps Torfaen Talks CIC continue providing essential talking therapies to those in our community who need them most.

Every length swum represents a life lost to su***de in Wales.

Our original Mystery Mermaid is tackling an incredible goal this October: 440 lengths (6.75 miles), one for each of the 440 Welsh residents lost to suspected su***de between April 2024 & March 2025.

Behind every single statistic is a friend, brother, partner, parent, or child.

🏊‍♀️ Progress so far: 140 lengths done after 3 sessions. 300 to go!

🌊 THE MYSTERY MERMAIDS ARE MAKING WAVES! 🧜‍♀️💙

Every length represents a life lost to su***de, and our Mystery Mermaids are swimming to create ripples of recovery, hope and support.

Our original Mystery Mermaid is taking on an incredible challenge: 440 lengths (6.75 miles) throughout October.

💙 Why 440 lengths?
Between April 2024 and March 2025, 440 Welsh residents lost their lives to suspected su***de.

77% of these deaths were men, with the highest rates among males aged 35–44.
Behind every statistic is a person — a friend, brother, partner, parent or child.
And now… we have a Mini Mystery Mermaid! 🧜‍♀️

Our amazing 11-year-old Mini Mystery Mermaid has set herself the challenge of swimming 135 lengths across four weeks.

💙 Why 135?
It represents the 135 people who can be affected by one su***de — highlighting the far-reaching impact su***de can have on families, friends and communities.

🏊‍♀️ Two sessions completed so far!
Both our Mystery Mermaids have already been getting in the pool and putting in the lengths, and there’s still a long way to go!
