A huge thank you to the wonderful URC Church Toddlers on Castle Street 🥰.

Their annual sponsored walk in June raised an amazing £820 and we are so touched that they have kindly donated this to Helpful Hugs!

We can’t thank the children and the amazing toddler group team enough. It means so much knowing that all those little legs walked for Helpful Hugs. It makes this donation even more special! 🌈🐭 x

Helpful Hugs is a local community interest company established to ease the burden on parents and carers whose children are unexpectedly admitted to Raigmore hospital. Each kit contains essential everyday items, helping families focus on what matters most – being there for their child. Alongside organising and distributing the care kits, recent fundraising has also purchased specialist sleeper chairs for parents staying overnight with their children, creating a lasting improvement to the hospital experience for countless families.

Founding partner, Alix, pictured with her daughter, said: “Running Helpful Hugs alongside caring full-time for my daughter, who has disabilities and complex medical needs, has shown me how powerful kindness can be during life’s most difficult moments. Thank you to NRS Dounreay for supporting us in our aim to ensure no parent facing an unexpected hospital stay has to worry about basic essentials when they need them most.”

A massive thank you to the Health Physics Department at Dounreay for raising an amazing £511.25 for Helpful Hugs!

The department holds a quiz night each year, and they have so kindly donated the money raised to us for the second year! We are so grateful for their kindness and generosity🌈🐭 x

NHS Highland Charity would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Helpful Hugs CIC for their generous donation of £18,272 to support families at the Highland Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital.

This funding has provided sixteen new sleeper chairs, giving parents and carers a more comfortable way to rest while staying right beside their child during a hospital stay.

🌈🐭 A Heartfelt Thank You

Today, we want to say a huge personal thank you to every single company who donated to help us provide lie-flat sleeper chairs for the Children’s Ward at Raigmore Hospital.

Last night, we experienced first-hand just how much these chairs mean. With Hollie needing hospital care, we spent the night by her side resting on one of the very sleeper chairs made possible by your kindness.

What a difference that simple change makes.

In moments like these, when families are already facing worry and exhaustion, being able to lie flat, rest properly, and stay close to their child provides not just comfort, but strength. It allows parents to be more present, more supported, and better able to cope with whatever comes next.

This is the real impact of your donations. This is the difference you have made.
