Official page for blood cancer charity ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust).

A charity with a key aim to register people onto the stem cell, blood and organ donor registers, to ensure no lives are lost due to a donor not being available. ACLT, formed in 1996, is a voluntary charity whose primary objective is to increase the number of ethnic minorities on the UK stem cell register and blood donation register. In 2010, the ACLT included increasing the number of ethnic minorities on the NHSBT organ donor registers as part of its aims. The charity was founded by Beverley De-Gale and Orin Lewis, parents of former Leukaemia sufferer Daniel De-Gale to provide hope and a healthy future to someone whose disorder may otherwise prove fatal.

❤️ 18 years without Daniel. Forever in our hearts.

Today, we remember Daniel De-Gale, whose courage, determination and journey inspired the creation of ACLT.

From being diagnosed with leukaemia at just six years old to receiving a life-saving stem cell transplant in 1999, Daniel’s journey was one of incredible strength, hope and resilience.

In 2008, Daniel launched the ACLT Podcast at the Gift of Life Gala, with hopes of continuing to raise awareness and share important conversations. Sadly, just 18 days later, on 8 October 2008, Daniel passed away.

Although he never had the opportunity to continue the podcast, his voice and his story continue to inspire the work we do today.

As we mark 30 years of ACLT, we are reminded of the young man at the heart of it all. His legacy lives on through the lives touched, the hope given to families and the continued fight to ensure more patients have a chance at life.

18 years on, Daniel, you remain at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

Forever loved. Forever remembered. 🕊️
