Once you've noticed what's there and made space for it, your body may need support to process and move the energy through.

Different emotions and nervous system states need different things.

Sometimes your body might need:

🚶 Movement

💨 Breath

🫨 Release

🧘 Rest

🎵 Expression

The goal isn't to force anything or make a feeling disappear.

It's simply to support your body in doing what it naturally knows how to do.

Try asking yourself:

💭 What would feel supportive right now?

💭 What is my body asking for?

The more we learn to listen, the easier it becomes to respond to our needs with awareness and care ✨

Over the last few posts, I've been talking about holding emotions.

🌱 Noticing what's there.
🌱 Making space for it.
🌱 Allowing it to exist without immediately trying to fix it.

Once we've acknowledged what's present, we can begin to move it through.

Regulation isn't about getting rid of feelings.

It's about helping the body process and move through them in a safe and supportive way.

First we notice.
Then we hold.
Then we allow movement.

That's where release begins 💫

Not everything can be fixed immediately.

Sometimes you're tired.
Sometimes you're stressed.
Sometimes you're unwell.
Sometimes life feels hard.

The struggle often comes when we fight against what is already here.

What if, instead, you acknowledged it?

✨ "I'm stressed right now."
✨ "I'm feeling overwhelmed."
✨ "My body needs rest."

This doesn't mean giving up. It means stopping the extra layer of resistance.

The more capacity we build to be with discomfort, the less energy we spend fighting it.

And often, that's when the nervous system can begin to settle and do what it naturally knows how to do.

Being comfortable with the uncomfortable isn't about enjoying difficult feelings.

It's about trusting that you can be with them without being consumed by them 💛

When something uncomfortable arises, our first instinct is often to make it go away.

To fix it.
Distract from it.
Push through it.

But what happens if, for a moment, you simply notice it?

🫀 What sensation is there?
🫀 Where do you feel it in your body?
🫀 How intense is it?

Can you take a breath and allow it to be there without immediately trying to change it?

But emotions don’t disappear when they’re bypassed.

They often stay in the system, waiting to be acknowledged.

True healing happens when we create space to feel, not rush past.

Not everything needs to be solved.
Sometimes it simply needs to be met 🌿

We often feel the need to “do something” when emotions arise.

To fix it.
Solve it.
Move past it quickly.

But not everything needs to be fixed.

Sometimes what’s needed is simply the ability to hold what’s there, and respond differently to it.

Because when something can’t be controlled, the real shift often comes in how we relate to it.

Can I stay with this?
Can I breathe with this?
Can I respond with awareness instead of reaction?

Holding an emotion doesn’t mean you’re trying to solve it or make it disappear.

It means you’re able to stay with what’s present, with awareness and gentleness.

You might notice it in your body.
You might take a deep breath.
You might mentally acknowledge: this is here right now.

And instead of resisting it, you create space for it to exist.

When things feel overwhelming, it’s natural to start searching for something that will help you feel more steady again.

Regulation isn’t one single technique or “quick fix”, it’s a collection of supportive practices you can return to, depending on what your nervous system needs in that moment.

That might be grounding, breathwork, movement, stillness, or gentle expression.

The key is having options, so you’re not relying on just one way to support yourself.

This is what the Regulation Toolbox is here for 🌿

Healing often begins with turning towards what's already there.
✨ Noticing it
✨ Feeling it
✨ Bringing awareness to it
✨ Staying connected instead of disconnecting

Awareness is powerful.
Connection is powerful.
And sometimes, simply noticing is where everything begins.

A big part of nervous system awareness is learning how to notice sensation in the body.

Not analysing it. Not fixing it. Just noticing it.

You can start by gently asking yourself:
💭 What am I feeling right now?
💭 Where do I feel it in my body?
💭 How intense is it from 1–10?

Or you can see if you can describe the sensation.
Maybe it feels:
⚡ buzzy
🪨 heavy
🫧 floaty
🔒 tight
🌊 unsettled
☁️ calm

If we proactively become more aware and the more you practice noticing, the more familiar your nervous system patterns become 💫
