As a therapist, I sometimes get asked how I look after myself.

Holding space for others also means making sure I’m holding space for myself. 💜

I’m still human. I have my own experiences, emotions and things I’m working through too.

My own therapy, supervision, movement, clear boundaries and time to decompress all help me process and release what I’m holding, so I can continue to show up for my clients with presence and care. 🌿

Looking after myself is part of the work too. 🤍

A little glimpse at the person behind Indigo Hub. 💜

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll usually find me moving, exploring, reading, travelling or spending time with the animals I love. 🐾📚🥾

I’m a big believer in continuing to learn, try new things and make space for the things that bring us joy. ✨

Rest isn’t something we need to earn. 💜

When life feels busy or change brings more demands, rest can be an important part of supporting our nervous system.

It gives our body space to pause, restore and reconnect. 🌿

Sometimes taking care of yourself means allowing yourself to simply be, without needing to do. 🤍

September can bring new routines, expectations and changes in pace. 🍂

After checking in with what’s coming up for you, the next question can be: what do I need? 💜

Maybe your nervous system needs more rest, more space, firmer boundaries or simply a little more kindness as you adjust.

You don’t always need to do more. Sometimes, you just need to take care of you. 🤍

September can bring a sense of change, new routines, expectations and a shift in pace. 🍂💜

Before moving into the new season, take a moment to check in with yourself.

✨ What’s coming up in your body?
✨ How do you feel when you think about what’s ahead?
✨ Do you notice calm, excitement, tension or anxiety?

There’s no right or wrong response. Simply noticing what’s there can help you understand what your nervous system might be communicating.

Awareness is the first step. 🤍

September often brings a shift back into routine after the summer holidays. 🍂💜

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out for support, now is a good time to book an intro, as September appointments are starting to fill up.

An intro gives us the opportunity to connect, talk about what you’re looking for support with, and explore whether working together feels right for you. 🤍

The more we practice supporting our nervous system, the more our body and brain begin to rewire around safety. 💜

Over time, recognising triggers, creating safety and responding differently to protection can become less of a conscious effort and more of an automatic response.

✨ We recover from protection mode more easily.
🧠 Our brain learns new patterns.
🤍 Our body becomes more familiar with safety.
🌊 We build greater flexibility between nervous system states.

The aim isn’t to never experience stress or dysregulation, it’s to build a nervous system that knows how to find its way back to connection and safety.

With repetition, safety can become more familiar and more automatic. ✨

Vagal toning isn’t just about calming your nervous system, it’s about building flexibility and learning how to respond to what your body needs. 💜

It starts with awareness:

✨ Learning your triggers
🧠 Recognising your patterns and body cues
🧡 Creating safety proactively
🌊 Learning what helps when you move into protection mode
🤝 Finding support when you need it

The more we understand our nervous system, the more we can recognise when we’re moving into protection and find ways to reconnect with ourselves.

It’s not about never becoming dysregulated. It’s about learning how to notice, respond and reconnect. ✨

💜 Vagal toning is about flexibility, not staying calm all the time.

A flexible nervous system can move between activation and rest depending on what the moment needs.

⚡ Accelerate when you need energy, action or engagement.
🌙 Brake when you need rest, recovery or connection.

The aim is to build your capacity to experience both states while still feeling connected to yourself.

Think of it less as trying to stay in one place, and more as learning to move between states with greater ease. ✨

Both sides of your nervous system have strengths. 💜🧡

Your sympathetic state can bring energy, excitement, creativity and that feeling of being ready to take action. ⚡✨

Your parasympathetic state allows space for rest, calm, presence and feeling grounded. 🌙🤍

Neither is better than the other. We need both.

Regulation is about having the flexibility to move between these states and access what we need in different moments. ✨
