This summer, many of us will head to Norfolk's rivers for some fun! 🌞

To keep our adventures enjoyable and protect our beautiful wildlife, it's important to be aware of how our activities can inadvertently spread invisible invasive species and pathogens. These include:

🦞 Crayfish plague
🦠 Harmful algal blooms
🐌 New Zealand mud snails
💧 Water moulds
➕ And more...

Kayaks, boats, clothing, gear and even our dogs can unknowingly carry these threats. That's why the check, clean, dry process is crucial:

🔍 Check: Remove plant matter, soil and organisms.
🚿 Clean: Wash all equipment, clothing and pets.
🍃 Dry: Ensure everything is completely dry (preferably in the sun) before using at a new site.

Spread the word and help us protect our waterways! 🌊

With a red heat alert issued for Wednesday and Thursday, people may be tempted to get into the water 🌊

Make sure you know what to do if you see someone struggling:

📞 Phone 999
🗣️ Tell them to float on their back
🛟 Throw them something that floats

With temperatures hitting over 30 degrees this week, let's make every drop count 💧

Our teams are working 24/7 to keep taps flowing. In the hot weather we see more demand than usual, which puts extra pressure on our network.

In this weather, it’s important to keep cool and look after pets and plants, but we want to make sure there’s enough water to go round. Here are some ways to make sure every drop goes a little further:

💧 Only use water for essentials like drinking, cooking and washing
🪴 Swap the hosepipe for a watering can – reuse water from rinsing food, unfinished drinks or a water butt
☀️ If you’re using a paddling pool, make it last – cover it overnight and reuse the water
🚗 Hold off on non-essential jobs like washing the car, patio or windows
