Our learners had an incredible time at the Extreme Zone in Howe Bridge! 🧗‍♂️💪

They tackled the climbing walls with confidence, determination and absolutely no fear. A huge thank you to the fantastic staff for making the experience so enjoyable and memorable. 🌟

Some of our learners have been gaining fantastic work experience opportunities through Sunshine House, supporting both The Pantry and the Charity Shop.

In the Charity Shop, learners have been helping to sort donations, organise stock, tidy displays and restock shelves. In The Pantry, they have supported with restocking food items, organising products and checking shelves, developing valuable workplace skills along the way. 🍞🥤

As part of their time at Sunshine House, some learners also enjoyed exploring the 'Weird and Wonderful' shop, where they discovered a range of unusual items from the past. Highlights included a pedal-powered sewing machine and a very strange-looking device once used to make telephone calls! 🤣

These experiences sparked plenty of curiosity, conversation and laughter while helping learners build confidence, independence and community awareness. 🗣

A huge thank you to everyone at Sunshine House for creating such a welcoming and supportive environment for our learners. The opportunities you provide are helping young people develop real skills, make meaningful connections and become active members of their local community.

We are so proud of everything our learners are achieving. 💙

Our learners on work experience at The Gates Wigan have been working hard towards their individual college targets while developing valuable employability skills.

Recently, they have been practising their barista skills using the coffee machine and building confidence using the till, helping them gain experience in customer service and workplace routines. ☕✨

It has been fantastic to see learners developing their independence, communication skills and confidence in a real working environment. Experiences like these help prepare our young people for future employment and support them to achieve their goals.

We are incredibly proud of their progress and commitment. 💙

A huge well done to our amazing learners who have been doing fantastic work experience at the On the Way Cafe in Wigan. ☕

Over the course of their placements, they have been building confidence, developing valuable employability skills and becoming valued members of the cafe team. Their responsibilities have included serving customers, clearing and cleaning tables, washing up, supporting the bowling green area, communicating with staff and customers, and following daily workplace routines.

It has been fantastic to see their independence, confidence and work skills continue to grow in such a welcoming community environment.

One of our learners was also delighted to celebrate their 21st birthday with the café team, highlighting the positive relationships and sense of belonging that have developed throughout the placement. 🎉

A big thank you to Liz, Paul, Sharon, Jay, Martin and all the staff for the support, encouragement and opportunities they continue to provide. Your kindness and commitment help our learners feel welcome, included and valued every step of the way.

We are incredibly proud of the progress being made and look forward to seeing what comes next. 💙

Our Thrive Independent Living Group have been working hard shopping for resources for our new Sensory Garden! 🌿 🌼

Learners have been comparing prices, sticking to a budget and making informed decisions about which plants and materials would be most suitable for the space. A fantastic opportunity to develop independence, money management and decision-making skills in a real-life setting. 💰🛍

A huge well done to everyone involved for their hard work, teamwork and positive attitude throughout the project. 💚

Our Sensory Garden is coming together nicely! 🌿

Here you can see our learners hard at work laying rocks as they help bring the garden to life. From planning and shopping for materials to creating features and preparing the space, our learners have played a key role in every stage of the project. 🌺🦋

The Sensory Garden is becoming a welcoming space for relaxation, wellbeing and sensory exploration, and we are incredibly proud of the teamwork, effort and dedication our learners have shown along the way.

We can't wait to share the finished result! 💚

Who Stole the Chocolate Cake?! 🕵️‍♂️🍫

Our latest social evening was a fantastic success, with learners putting their detective skills to the test during our mystery-themed event!

Working together to solve clues, follow evidence and eliminate suspects, learners had great fun trying to discover who had eaten the chocolate cake. After plenty of investigating, questioning and teamwork, the culprit was finally revealed...

Our Sensory Garden is continuing to take shape, and we would like to say a huge thank you to our learners for all of their hard work in making it happen. 🌿

Here you can see our learners painting and decorating rocks for our new 'Kindness Rocks' area. Each rock has been carefully designed to help spread positivity and brighten someone's day. ❤️✨

Our Kindness Rocks area will feature the simple message:

A wonderful project promoting creativity, wellbeing and community spirit. We can't wait to see the finished Sensory Garden! 💐

Some fantastic pictures showing our students using the skills and knowledge gained from their Food Hygiene and Safety training within a practical workplace setting. 👏

Learners have been supporting staff with food preparation tasks, applying their training whilst developing confidence, independence and workplace skills throughout their placement at Orchid House Coffee Shop. ☕

Our learners on work experience with Wigan Assisted Gardening Services recently worked hard on a private garden, helping to give the customer’s outdoor space a real uplift .🌿

Using lawnmowers and trimmers, the team worked well together and shared the workload throughout the task. It was great to see such strong teamwork and effort from everyone involved.

Well done all — another very happy customer. 👏
