Thank You!
TNR officer Sarah had a wonderful day last Wednesday, delivering a Bat Chat for residents at Shephard Mead retirement village, many of whom couldn't attend the summer Bat Walks due to mobility limitations. We spent an evening watching bats and listening to them using ultrasonic detectors, all while learning all about their amazing little lives.

All of our events and talks are free, but this group kindly raised £125 to help Tewkesbury Nature Reserve look after wildlife!

Tewkesbury Nature Reserve is delighted to announce that it has been awarded £250,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver an ambitious programme of learning, volunteering and outreach over the next four years. This will allow us to strengthen the way we care for the reserve while empowering people to play an active role in caring for the environment.

Green Lung 2.0 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to secure funding to help more people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for nature.

Can you guess what we made these super colours out of?

On monday, our Mindful Craft Group met for a natural paint / fabric dye workshop.
We experimented with lots of natural items such as blackberries, elderflowers, sloes, lemon and turmeric (as well as a few less easily foraged items like baking soda and hand sanitiser for some interesting chemical reactions...)
These vibrant colours were super easy to make and replicate at home, are you tempted to have a go?

As part of our new Access Project, we will be putting 7 new benches around our nature reserve. Providing extra spaces for everyone to rest, relax and enjoy nature. 🌳🌼

Visitors to the reserve might spot some of our posters on the benches encouraging people to vote on their favourite style of bench. If you are interested in joining our Community Forum and helping to shape the future of the reserve please email [email protected].

The new benches are just one part of our 2-year project funded by to help improve access to Tewkesbury Nature Reserve.

This isn't wildlife, but our wonderful trolleys allow us to take everything we need across the reserve and out to groups and events around Tewkesbury. After using for several years, one of them broke. One of the wonderful volunteers at the CCPCharity Sheds Group , who also helps at the Tewkesbury Repair Cafe , mended it for us ❤️

This helps us keep something out of the waste and stops a new item needing to be made. Good for us and great for the planet 🌍💚.

Check out our Cyanotype printing with Tewkesbury Community Hospital patients and staff. We used seasonal foliage and personal items to create long lasting prints that were unique to each person and their story.

Being unwell can be a very challenging experience. As part of the Wildlife and Water for Wellbeing Project, we regularly visit care settings to provide nature based activities that bring distraction, enjoyment, movement and conversation.

These sessions have been especially well received by individuals living with dementia, as tactile activities can be a great way to share memories.

If you know of a group or individual that would benefit from nature based wellbeing activities please email us to enquire. All activities are funded through the NHS and GCF Community Fund and provided to the users for free.
