How many grasshoppers and crickets can you count? It's been a good week for bug hunts on the reserve. Just one sweep in the north of our reserve left us wondering what the collective noun for grasshoppers and crickets are. Which do you prefer?

Grasshoppers: a cloud, a cluster, or a swarm?
Crickets: a concerto, a crackle, or an orchestra?

Join us tomorrow at the This is Tewkesbury event at Tewkesbury Abbey between 11am and 4pm. Sarah and Beth will be outside in the Abbey grounds (excellent weather has been ordered) to make seed bombs, explore the cabinet of curiosities, and find a trail clue. There are lots of organisations taking part and plenty for all ages. Pop along for a chat and find out what's new on the nature reserve and in the community.

Following the vandalism on the reserve a couple of weeks ago, we gratefully accepted the help of Minchew Fencing and Groundwork's team who joined Giles on the reserve and helped fix the broken fences. Thank you for reaching out Neal and bringing the team along. We really appreciate your support and the cows remain safe in their field.

It's Volunteers Week and today we want to shout out to our community garden volunteers. Over the past year they have helped out in the local community, maintaining spaces used by others such as school gardens, the hospital grounds and spring gardens. However, since February, the Community Garden Group have been developing the space outside at the CCP Tewkesbury Community Hub and look at what a difference they have made! Today the first strawberry and first peas (just one pod) were harvested, with plenty more to come. To find out more about joining our community garden group, email Hannah on [email protected].
