Action Bladder Cancer UK

Action Bladder Cancer UK The UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with bladder cancer.

Our vision is to stop bladder cancer by raising awareness of the symptoms, improving early diagnosis, supporting research into the causes and developing new, and better, ways of treatment and care for patients. We are working to get bladder cancer recognised as a common cancer which has not received the acknowledgement, level of public awareness, improvements in treatments or medical research investment it merits and bladder cancer patients deserve.

A huge thank you and congratulations to the Salesforce UK team for an incredible fundraising challenge in support of Action Bladder Cancer UK.

In May, during Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, 16 Salesforce colleagues took on a remarkable challenge - cycling 490km from London to Amsterdam over 4 days, arriving at the Rijksmuseum tired but elated after an unforgettable journey across 4 countries.

The route pushed them from the start in London, through the climb to Dover, the ferry crossing, and on into France, Belgium and the Netherlands. With long days in the saddle, strong winds, and many riders new to cycling long distances, the achievement is all the more impressive.

What makes this effort especially meaningful is the story behind it.

Rob Lewis helped coordinate the challenge and also took part, riding in memory of his mum, who he lost to metastatic bladder cancer in July 2025. After caring for her through her illness, Rob was inspired to support ABC UK after learning more about its work and impact on patients and families.

Crossing the finish line with a photograph of his mum in his pocket, Rob described the moment as deeply personal and motivating throughout the journey.

Together, the team has now raised over £32,000, through individual fundraising, payroll giving, and company match funding - an outstanding result that will directly support people affected by bladder cancer.

From everyone at ABC UK, thank you to Rob, the riders, and the wider Salesforce team for their incredible effort, commitment, and generosity.

As Bladder Cancer Awareness Month has now come to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s campaign so impactful.

To everyone who shared our messages, volunteered their time or ran awareness stalls, joined in our first support group, organised or supported fundraisers, distributed information, or sent in their personal stories - thank you. Your support helps more people understand the signs and symptoms of bladder cancer and encourages earlier conversations with GPs, which can make a real difference.

Every leaflet handed out, every conversation started, every story shared, and every moment given to raise awareness has helped us reach further than ever before. We are truly grateful for the strength of this community.

If you have signed up to our mailing list, look out for our BCAM 2026 round-up coming soon.

And if you aren’t signed up yet, you can join here: https://actionbladdercanceruk.org/newsletter/

With sincere thanks,
The team at ABC UK

On the last day of Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of an important warning sign:

Blood in your p*e is a warning sign.

It might look like:
• Pink
• Red
• Brown or rusty
• Streaks of blood

Even if you notice this just once, don’t ignore it. It could be a symptom of bladder cancer.

Get it checked by your GP.

During Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, awareness in the community makes a real impact.

Di Cooke and Rose were outside Boots on High Street Kensington, speaking with the public and handing out bladder cancer awareness Z-cards. In just 45 minutes, they gave out 60 cards - they wish they had brought more!

They also distributed 73 awareness drinks coasters, helping to spread key messages in a simple, everyday way.

Huge thanks to everyone who stopped to listen and take information away. Small conversations like these can help people recognise symptoms sooner and act faster.

During Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, every conversation helps raise awareness and could make a real difference.

Di has been at the Southampton Hospital stall alongside the wonderful Lidia, sharing information and speaking with patients, visitors and staff. A huge number of awareness Z-cards were handed out throughout the day.

We were especially grateful when Sandra, one of Lidia’s patients, kindly joined us to help out for a while before heading off, and later Karen stepped in to continue supporting the stall.

Moments like these show the strength of community and shared purpose in spreading awareness and helping people recognise the signs of bladder cancer earlier.

During Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, a huge thank you again to ABC UK Volunteer Anne Wass, who was at New Lodge Farm in Bulwick, Northamptonshire earlier this week to raise awareness of bladder cancer.

New Lodge Farm is home to a successful farm, camping and caravan site, café, gift shop, and swim spa and we’re incredibly grateful for their support in helping spread awareness within the local community.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting Action Bladder Cancer UK during this important month. Together, we can help more people recognise the signs and symptoms of bladder cancer.

During Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, every reminder matters.

We’re proud to see bladder cancer awareness posters displayed in the local community, including at Kathryn Chatterton’s (Bladder Cancer Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Guy's Hospital) pharmacy and on the local Co-op pin board, helping to spread awareness where it really counts.

Simple messages in everyday spaces can make a real difference: blood in urine is the most common symptom of bladder cancer and should always be checked by a GP, even if it only happens once.

Thank you to everyone helping to raise awareness and start conversations this BCAM.

If you notice anything unusual, don’t wait - get it checked.

During Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing Caroline’s experience to help raise awareness of the key signs of bladder cancer.

Caroline first noticed something when she saw a small amount of blood in her urine:

“There were two tiny spots of blood, the size of a pin head, on the paper. A couple of weeks later, I noticed blood again, along with a streak of blood in my urine.”

Blood in your urine is the most common symptom of bladder cancer and it should always be checked, even if it only happens once.

If you notice blood in your urine, don’t wait. Contact your GP and get it investigated.

Early diagnosis can make all the difference.
