It has been a little while since our last update in February, so we thought we would take the opportunity to share a recap of what has been achieved and where things currently stand.
Following the devastating floods, Tenbury Wells Community Flood Support was established to help local residents navigate the challenges that followed. Since then, trustees and volunteers have worked behind the scenes to provide information, signpost support, secure funding and help those most affected access practical assistance.
We are pleased to report that, to date, 34 Community Recovery Grants have been awarded, providing a total of £8,699.85 directly to local households affected by flooding. These grants have helped residents with a range of needs as they continued their recovery journey.
We currently have sufficient funds remaining for three further grants of up to £250 each. If you, or someone you know, is still experiencing hardship as a result of the flooding, please get in touch to find out if support may be available.
Although much time has passed since the floodwaters receded, we know that for many residents and businesses the impact is still being felt. Recovery is often a much longer process than many people realise.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the fund along the way – from those who donated and fundraised, to those who volunteered their time, attended meetings, shared information, checked on neighbours or simply offered a helping hand when it was needed most.
The flooding affected our whole community in different ways, but throughout it all we have witnessed remarkable resilience, kindness and determination. That community spirit remains one of the positives to emerge from such a challenging time.
