Down's Syndrome Association To support people who have Down's syndrome to live full and rewarding lives.

We are often the first point of contact for many new parents of a baby with Down's syndrome looking for information and advice, and remain a valued source of support to families as their child growns and develops.

We are absolutely delighted that the Down Syndrome Tennis Open Tournament at Thistleworth Tennis Club has won the ‘Competition of the Year’ at the Middlesex and LTA Tennis Awards Presentation 2026.

Huge congratulations to tennis coach and tournament creator Dan Balfe, who has also secured funding from the county’s John James Inclusion Award to help enable Down’s syndrome specific tennis sessions for teenagers and adults.

We are excited to continue to support Dan and Thistleworth Tennis Club in 2026 as they provide more fantastic opportunities for people who have Down’s syndrome to play tennis.

Congratulations from all of us at the DSA!👏🎾

Timms Review Workshop - Share your views on PIP with the Timms Review.

Join our workshop on Thursday 2 July 2026 | 6-8.30pm | FREE

The Down’s Syndrome Association is hosting a workshop for parents/carers of young people and adults who have Down’s syndrome as part of the Timms Review of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and we would love you to take part.

PIP supports many people with the extra costs of a disability or long-term health condition, and the government is committed to ensuring it remains a non-means-tested cash benefit, there for people in and out of work.

This session is open to parents/carers who have experience of, or views on, PIP in relation to people who have Down’s syndrome.

Please sign up here if you'd like to attend (limited spaces available) : https://www.downs-syndrome.org.uk/our-work/services-projects/training/timms-review-workshop/

To celebrate the importance of Learning Disability Week this week, please join us for this online session: 'Do You See Me? Experts by experience talking to you about the DSA Listen Include Respect Project.'

Friday 19 June 2026 | 2.15-3.15pm | FREE

Join our Inclusion Team and experts by experience for a one hour talk regarding the 2026 Learning Disability Week theme 'Do You See Me.'

We shall explore this year’s theme while sharing personal anecdotes and practical advice for professionals.

We will also talk about our DSA Listen Include Respect project. The talk highlights how inclusion is a continuous journey and examines key sections of the LIR international guidelines.

There will be space for an open conversation about how these topics relate to people who have Down’s syndrome.

We hope that people who have Down’s syndrome, family members and professionals will join us for this interactive event.

There's only a couple of days left to sign up, please click here: https://www.downs-syndrome.org.uk/our-work/services-projects/training/do-you-see-me-listen-include-respect-webinar/

We, the Down's Syndrome Association, believe there is a need for accessible news in the UK. This means TV and radio news that use simple language everyone can understand.

We signed a joint open letter to Lisa Nandy MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. The letter explains that accessible news exist in many other countries, and says that we think the BBC should produce accessible news in the UK.

The letter is in Easy Read. This is an accessible format preferred by many people with a learning disability. Accessible news would help these same people, and many others.

Please read it here:https://disabilityequality.scot/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Accessible-news-open-letter-June-2026.pdf
