What a belter of an evening! Thank you, thank you to everyone who came along to Tavistock Dickensian Evening! 🎄✨
The bad weather earlier in the day turned all our plans upside down, and it took a tremendous amount of teamwork and last-minute changes to make sure the evening could still go ahead. We’re so grateful for everyone’s patience, support, and community spirit.
A special shout-out to Tavistock Conservative Club, who stepped in when the main stage couldn’t be set up, offering the perfect balcony for the official Light Switch-On. Thanks to them, our very special guests from local primary schools - along with Ian Lashbrook, who has served our town for 46 years - were still able to enjoy their big moment.
We hope the evening brought plenty of cheer to you all. This year the BID has funded the beautiful new lights on West Street and Market Street and they look phenomenal! A huge thank you to the Town Council Operations team for their hard work getting the lights up across the town. Not only this but they all worked extremely hard (and cheerfully) in the wind and rain to keep us all safe throughout the evening.
Our grateful thanks to this year’s sponsors:
Headline sponsor: Care Control, proudly created right here in Tavistock.
Partner sponsors: Westbridge Motor Services, The Original Pasty House, and Tavistock Chamber of Commerce.
Supporting sponsors: West Devon Borough Councillors Adam Bridgewater, Mandy Ewings, Holly Greenbury-Pullen, Anne Johnson, Neil Jory, Jeff Moody, Robert Oxborough and Debo Sellis.
Thank you also to the Lions Club of Tavistock for marshalling the lantern parade and to Andy of West Devon Art Workshops for making the parade possible.
Thank you, too, for supporting Tavistock’s businesses last night and throughout the year. The true spirit of Christmas isn’t found at the click of a mouse; it’s felt when you come into town, shop under the magical lights and enjoy what our wonderful community has to offer. We hope you’ll continue to shop local whenever you can.
There are so many people to thank. So many people who came through to help with all the changes of plan to offer help and solutions. Miss Ivy Events for supporting and calming the storm! Thank you everyone from the bottom of our heart!
What a night, Tavistock. Thank you for making it magical. ❤️✨
