Closing Down.

After 2.5 years and over 300 locally donated laptops refurbished and redistributed to people across the Taunton/Wellington/Bridgwater area, we have decided to close operations.

Thank you to everyone who donated their laptops, to give them a second life in the hands of school children, Ukrainians who have arrived in this are, and adults doing online courses for retraining, amongst others who all received the refreshed machines.

As a volunteer team we are so pleased with what we did - but sadly we have had to now down tools and close SCHol Tech. Thank you everyone.

SCHol.Tech are pleased to announce that alongside our ongoing work supporting school children, families and adults who have qualify for free laptops, we can now also supply laptops in native languages for Ukrainian refugees who are living with host families across Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater areas.

Well. One year on from when we started, in Jan 21 school lockdown, we're still here, taking in laptops, and processing applications for laptops.

Just printed off another 95 laptop sticker labels for new machines we have had donated. So far we've delivered something like 205 refurbished laptops across the Wellington, Taunton and Bridgwater areas in the last year, mainly to families with school-aged children.

Although we aren't in lockdown, the cost of living is rocketing, so we're glad to be able to at least help our region's most in need to get online, get homework done and all the other things that modern life demands.

A bit of a nostalgic moment today when Brian, Carl and Tim went for the last time to clear out 'Triage' - the office we have been loaned for 5 months free of charge where we processed the >250 laptops we've been donated.
Now that we've finally left we can reveal that we were based at Ruishton Village Hall, and SCHol Tech are extremely grateful to the RVH committee for granting us use of the hall at such short notice in January when we were rapidly setting up to process laptops for the kids on school lockdown.
Rob, one of our volunteers - not in this photo sadly - became our key man at triage doing a fabulous job working on triaging the laptops upon arrival before they were shipped to the technicians.
SCHol Tech are not stopping, we carry on renovating donated laptops, via our website www.schol.tech, and giving them away as requests come in - we're just doing it from alternative premises from now on.

24 refurbished laptops after the amazing SCHol.tech team have done their thing! These have been delivered to those locally in need of a laptop - what a satisfying job to complete! 👏
