A two-stop Flexi night in top-tier company. 🧠🍻

The grey matter is currently being put to the test at The Tame Otter pub quiz for our June Flexi Social, but the night started with a vital mission over at Christopher's & The Peel Aldergate.

As a club, we are all about backing our independent local venues. Christopher's is open for drinks but currently can't serve food due to their recent fire. It is a fantastic venue with an brilliant atmosphere, so we highly recommend getting down there, grabbing a pint or two of Hawkstone, and showing them some proper Tamworth community support while they get back on track! 🤝🔥

From there, we marched over to the Tame Otter quiz. We like to think our collective knowledge of geography, history, and 80s music is unmatched, but realistically, a few pre-quiz drinks at Christopher's might have completely derailed our trivia strategy.

Great food, sharp wits, and even sharper banter. This is how you break up a standard Wednesday. 🛡️

Under the shadow of the Castle, the bowls are in motion. 🏰🥎

Live from the immaculate greens at Tamworth Castle Bowling Club for our June Main Event!

We promised a 200+ year old historic venue, and it doesn't get much more iconic than this. The sun is out, the bias on the bowls has completely baffled half the membership, and the competitive banter is at an all-time high.

A massive thank you to the club for hosting us at such a stunning heritage landmark. Proving that while we might be sliding past 45, our competitive drive (and our ability to look decent in a lineup) is only getting better. ☀️💪

Massive news hitting the town today regarding the future of the football club.

Their legendary dedication over the years has seen the club through thick and thin, creating a legacy that the whole town can be proud of. Enjoy the well-earned rest from the boardroom, gents! 🤝

The mystery is officially over. We’re taking over the green. 🏛️🥎

Remember that 200+ year old historic town venue we teased last week? This Thursday, Tamworth XRT is descending upon the prestigious Tamworth Castle Bowling Club for our June Main Event!

Crown Green Bowling is a game of absolute precision, tactical mastery, and—knowing our lot—an incredible amount of luck. It’s the perfect summer evening setup: traditional competition right in the shadow of the castle, followed by a few well-earned cold ones.

⚠️ SQUAD UPDATE: The guest spots we had open for this event are now completely FILLED. We are operating at a full house on the green this Thursday. If you want to get your name down early to secure a spot for our July event, drop us a DM today.

Joint operations in Lichfield tonight. 🛡️🤝

Great to get out on a Monday evening for a bit of cross-club fellowship. The XRT and Tamworth Round Table shirts were out in full force at The Bullseye Bar for a top-tier darts session.

This is what the Table family is all about—great activities, a healthy dose of banter, and a network of blokes who actually get out and make things happen across Tamworth and beyond.

June is locked in, and we're stepping back in history... 🛡️⏳

May was a tough act to follow, but the June XRT calendar is looking absolutely top-tier. Here is a sneak peek at what the lads have got lined up this month:

The Main Event (3rd Thursday as always): We are taking over a stunning, 200+ year old historic venue right in the heart of Tamworth. We’re keeping the exact location under wraps for now, but expect a bit of traditional competition and a proper premium setting. 🤫🏆

The Road Trip: Some of the crew are dusting off their sunglasses and joining forces with the Tamworth Round Table lads for a massive weekend trip down to Weston-super-Mare. 🏖️🚌

Culture & Comedy: A night out at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms for some world-class comedy (and a few cold ones, naturally). 🎭🍻

The Celebration: Raising a significant glass to our Chairman, who is celebrating another lap around the sun this month. 🎂🎈

We also have a brilliant 'Flexi' social dropping into the schedule mid-month.

May, you’ve been an absolute, top-tier classic. ☀️🥩🔊

We promised we'd keep the calendar busy, but May really went above and beyond. Here is how the last few weeks shook out for the XRT lads:

The Feast: Started strong by eating our body weight in chops at Blacklock.

The Road Trip: Headed up to Sheffield for the Round Table National Conference to chat to the next generation about 41 Club and XRT.

The Clubbing Incident: Dressed up like proper Yorkshiremen and managed to have at least one of our lads single-handedly raise the average age of a local Drum & Bass club by a significant margin. 🧢🎶

The Main Event: Chucked a lot of plastic into a lot of trees at Disc Golf, followed by accidentally finding a perfect local gem right on Pie Night. 🥧🍻

The Extras: Squeezed in the Shirley Beer Festival and a cheeky, impromptu Thursday afternoon beer garden lunch just because the sun was out.

The pints were cold, the food was heavy, and the banter was exactly what you need to wind down after a busy week.

Massive welcome to all the new faces who joined us this month. May is officially in the books, which means tomorrow night we turn our eyes to June.

Extending the weekend into Thursday... because we can. 😎🍺

Perks of the "over 45" lifestyle: booking a random Thursday afternoon off work and heading straight for a proper country beer garden with the lads.

We like to tell people that XRT is a prestigious community organisation, but really, it's just a brilliant excuse to escape the daily grind, talk absolute nonsense for a couple of hours, and enjoy a decent lunch in the sun.

No admin, no formal agendas, just good mates making the most of a sunny afternoon.

The anatomy of a perfect summer night out... ☀️🥧🍻

Sometimes the absolute best part of an XRT Main Event is what happens after the event. After wrapping up our Disc Golf last week, we stumbled upon an absolute hidden gem— The Belper Arms - Newton Burgoland .

Not only is it a fantastic, proper country pub with a top atmosphere, but we managed to time our arrival completely perfectly. It was Pie Night. 🥧🔥

Sitting down with a cold pint, a world-class pie, and just taking the time to unwind, catch up, and have a proper laugh with a great group of mates—honestly, mid-week socials don't get much better than that.

That’s the real beauty of XRT. The activity gets us out of the house, but the fellowship and discovering brilliant new local spots is why we keep coming back.

Supporting local grassroots sport? We’re all in. ⚽🛡️

When Kelly and Gareth reached out to see if we'd support Tamworth FC Women in their away kit sponsor draw, we didn’t just buy a slot—we took 5 teams.

Because we can't just do things normally, we put some serious tactical thought into our team picks on the card:

Norwich: The birthplace where Round Table was founded. 🗺️

Sheffield United: A nod to Bramall Lane, where we just spent the weekend for the National Conference. 🏟️

Blackpool: Getting the scouting report in early for next year’s 41 Club Conference. 🎡

Oldham: Because let's face it... we’re a bunch of old 'uns. 👴😂

Hearts: Because we like to think we’re still breaking hearts wherever we go (even if it’s just our own wives rolling their eyes). 💔😉

For us, XRT is all about backing the Tamworth community. Increasing our chances of getting the XRT badge on the official away kit for the season seemed like a complete no-brainer.
