Did you know?
80% of women in the UK have experienced harassment in public spaces.
88% of people in the UK have experienced some form of unwanted behaviour on public transport in the past five years.

The most common behaviours include staring, intimidatingly sitting or standing too close, and verbal abuse — according to research by L’Oréal Paris and the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

You can learn how to recognise harassment and support women safely by joining a free 30-minute training webinar: Stand Up Against Harassment, offered by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust in partnership with L’Oréal Paris.

This training empowers you to act as an active bystander when you witness harassment — without putting yourself at risk.

Experiencing domestic abuse can feel isolating, and finding support isn’t always easy.

That’s why the UK SAYS NO MORE campaign created Safe Spaces — working with pharmacies, banks, and selected jobcentres across the UK to provide private, secure rooms for anyone experiencing domestic abuse.

Look out for the posters at participating locations. Simply walk in and ask a staff member at the counter to use their Safe Space.

Inside, you can:
Contact friends or family safely
Reach specialist support services
Start your journey to safety and recovery

Safe Spaces offer a discreet and secure way to get help when you need it most.

On Thursday the ladies of Tamworth Soroptimists got together for brunch and a catch up. Sometimes it is just nice to be amongst good friends and enjoy each others company.

Last week we were invited to the home of our member Debra Giulietti & her husband Mitch Giulietti. They shared with us the benefits & challenges of a vegan lifestyle. Debra told us of her journey and while Debra gave us a cooking demo, Mitch told us some very interesting and thought provoking facts.
They then provided us with an amazing buffet of vegan food to include homemade ice cream. Animal Aid provided us with some booklets to take home.
Thanks to the Giulietti's for a wonderful & captivating afternoon.

This week it is the flower festival in Tamworth.
The ladies of Tamworth Soroptimists are very proud of our very own Vicky who created a beautiful arrangement of flowers.
She said "It was an honour to represent Tamworth Soroptimists at the flower festival in St Editha’s church . Blue and white were the colours of course!"
The flowers will be in St Editha's, Tamworth until Sunday.

Stalking isn’t just unwanted attention — it’s a pattern of repeated, intrusive behaviour that can leave you feeling frightened, distressed or unsafe.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust defines stalking as:
A pattern of fixated and obsessive behaviour which is repeated, persistent and intrusive, causing fear, alarm or distress to the victim.

The Tamworth Soroptimist club celebrated their 78th year with a wonderful Charter lunch at Drayton Manor hotel. The club members were joined by Soroptimists from across the region as well as supporters and friends and family.

A highlight of the afternoon was the distribution of cheques to our designated charities which we have raised funds for throughout the year. Those organisations receiving cheques were: The Eve appeal; Home Start; St Giles; Pathways; The Soroptimist International Foundation and Tamworth Talking Newspaper.

The event concluded with a great musical set by guitarist and singer Steve Brazier
