Gardening club is on today at 5pm at Woodlands Ave play park...the forecast is the rain will stop at 3pm fingers crossed 🤞.One bonus with all this rain is we hope the water butt is enjoying filling up.All welcome
We had another fun gardening session last week busy planting more seeds, investigating the insects habits & generally tending to the gardens...Jay kindly came with his guitar which the children loved playing.Another young girl gardener received her 2nd bonus reward for filling her attendance card.WELL DONE 👍 MISS TT.
WE'VE STILL GOT SOME FREE LETTUCE 🥬 IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE SOME!!!!!
In the near future we are now looking at plans to move to the next stage of gardening & habitat building with the children.
ALL WELCOME 🤗 TO JOIN IN BIG & SMALL,YOUNG & OLD ... COME ALONG AND SEE WHAT WE DO & WHY WE ARE DOING IT!!!!

On Saturday June 6th Our Tiny Veg Growers had a " Have a grow"open day gardening event at their gardening club in WOODLANDS AVE.Despite the weather which didn't seem to bother the children at all the children engaged in all the activities with prizes given,plants & seed box pick & mix with seeds to take home sunflower 🌻 seed planting etc & of course enjoying their fresh fruit & snacks.

Come along & take part in a few hours of OUR TINY VEG GROWERS & volunteers showing you how well the children have done in the gardens & how they've progressed in their knowledge of every aspect of a beautiful natural environment for themselves, the bees, insects & also how to grow organic vegetables & fruit.

Come along & spend an hour or two in a beautiful environmentally friendly natural setting & see what the children & volunteers have been busy doing & what the insects & bees are busy doing .Lots of fun activities to participate in... adult & children alike.

Last week Keith brought along his UKELE & had a sing song with the children & let them play the UKELE.THANK YOU KEITH.
We're now starting to see some beautiful strawberries coming through & the children are enjoying picking & eating them.The broccoli are quite impressive & it's the first season with us we've had such good results with them,each day we are counting more.The lettuce 🥬 are still growing if anyone would like some FREE!!!!!. Parsnips, carrots,corn 🌽 on the cob,potatoes ,runner & broad beans,peas,beetroot,garlic,onions,new & old fruit trees, etc etc all flourishing.Thanks to NOURISHED EARTHS environmentally friendly organic products in our soil we are seeing healthy crops from our healthy soil.
Our 1METRE MATTERS wild flowers are just that beautiful wild flowers.The whole garden is now a bee & insect oasis with nature taking over & surprising us with what it can do.
I MUST SAY AGAIN WE HAD A FUNNY SUNDAY VISIT FROM A EWE & A LAMB...THE 5 CHILDREN WHO HERDED THEM & CARED FOR THEM FOR OVER 4 HOURS WERE AMAZING KEEPING THEM CALM ..UNTIL THEY MADE THEIR ESCAPE AGAIN.THEY WERE TAKEN TO A PLACE OF SAFETY THANKS TO OUR FARMERS.OUR CROPS WERE COVERED & SURVIVED... BOTH THE EWE & LAMB ENJOYED SOME 🥬 LETTUCE.
Mr Thomas the farmer was so impressed with the children & their actions he rewarded them with 2 bags of sweets to share out today at gardening club.

HI ALL... GARDENING CLUB IS ON TODAY AT 5PM.WOODLANDS AVE PLAY PARK.
Last week the children were given a talk on the moon circle that Martin kindly put in place for them...showing them all the points if the compass for them.
They sat very quiet & listened to what was being said( as the photos show)It was a lovely to see & witness...just silence & thoughts.
It's a place for them to just go & sit to have time to themselves if they feel they want to...they can put a small item or flowers that they want to in there & to sit & think...they all put some flowers or pieces of wood that they found in the gardens...a very nice few moments sat together & chatting after.

Well...what can we say as volunteers other than WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF OUR TINY VEG GROWERS AND THEIR QUICK THINKING & ACTIONS to ensure both the animals & the public ie cars being driven were safe from accidents.
This morning 5 of our young gardeners came & knocked on one of our volunteers doors & told them there were 2 sheep ( a ewe & a lamb ) in Our Tiny Veg Growers garden.They had secured the gate to the park to keep them safe & have since been keeping watch over them until their owners are found.2 volunteers have been present & we’ve contacted a farmer who came down to see if they were his,he’s sending down his son later to catch them & check their ear tags & markings.He was so impressed by their kindness to the animals that he came back down & left some sweets for the children to share out.
We have covered & protected our vegetables.The sheep have plenty of fresh grass are safe & still have no identified owner as yet.

Our Tiny Veg Growers wish you all a very Happy Christmas season & a happy & healthy 2026.
We are still doing small chores in our gardens & still have some vegetables growing.The water butt is looking very healthy after copious amounts of rain ☔️ for that we are very grateful.
We have lots of exciting projects planned for the children in 2026 to learn about our environment & how to continue sustaining it for their futures.

Now !!!! All the volunteers would like to say:

A busy day for the young gardeners yesterday.They had a great fun time together sharing painting,sticking & coloring their christmas items & having cakes,crumble & hot chocolate.
We shared out the potatoes & swedes that were picked by one of the younger gardeners on Friday evening.Well done Miss D.It was getting dark but we still managed to get them all out.
The Christmas decorations that were donated were shared amongst the children & they were happy to recycle & reuse them.Off they went home with their little bags of goodies ...happy children.
That you to all who helped on the day & to the parents who participated.Very much appreciated.
