Grow for Talgarth is a group of volunteers who began working together in 2016 to enhance the townscape with flowers as there was only one flowerbed in the town. Aims and Objectives
• To create spaces that enhance people’s sense of health, well-being and recreation
• To build sustainability into the horticultural design
• For our gardening practices to be ecologically and environmentally sustainabl

e with sustainable planting, wildlife habitats, plants for pollinators and insects and edibles for community use
• To raise awareness of the benefits of gardening and getting outside
• To encourage anyone to get involved
• Collaborate with the wider community to include as many people as possible to promote community cohesion
• To continue to build a strong sense of community identity and pride
• To raise funds via fundraising events, sponsorship, grant applications and donations

The Great Big Garden Week is the UK's biggest celebration of action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Grow For Talgarth and Talgarth Mill are delighted to have been accepted to join this national event.
You are invited to Talgarth Mill Diversity Afternoon on Wednesday 10th June from 1:00 - 4:00pm at Talgarth Mill, The Square, Talgarth LD3 0BW. Entry is free.
This hidden gem, restored and managed by Grow for Talgarth volunteers, is open to celebrate the rich diversity of planting in both upper and lower levels of the Mill Garden. We invite the community and visitors to explore the different elements of the space, ask questions and enjoy the peace and tranquility along the River Ennig.

As you know it's the Grow For Talgarth Big Garden Weekend from 26th - 28th May. This is a special event celebrating 10 years since the group started. As part of the entertainment, we'll be holding two ticketed talks in the Town Hall. On Friday 26th Harry and David Rich (local garden designers and Chelsea Gold Medal winners) will be giving a talk entitled "A Naturalistic Approach - The story of Harry's Garden". Tickets are £10 which includes a glass of wine and nibbles.
On Sunday 28th June we have our local florist, Ruminah (The Flower Bank), holding Floral Demonstrations and talking us through some of her skilled arrangements. Tickets are £10 which includes a cream tea.

You may have seen some changes in the Shade Garden over the years. We had such a success with our plant sale that we decided to invest some of the monies raised, in this area, next to the Square. The first photo shows before it was first transformed into a garden, around Covid, with the help of a fund to encourage people to meet outside. It's now used by younger people, visitors and as a resting place but unfortuntaly some plants and shrubs had taken over and the stones around the pacing slabs were looking a bit dingey. So the Grow For Talgarth volunteers went to work and we hope you agree that the whole garden looks so much better and brighter. Thank you for letting us improve our town's environment in this way and for supporting our fundraising events.

There's still time to plant up your entry to the Garden with Wheels competition. The three categories, Colour, Wildlfe and Food, give plenty of scope for your imagination to run wild. We welcome adult and children's entries and we'll be presenting trophies and medals to the winners of each category. Bring your entry to Griffiths Green in the High Street by 10:00am on 27th June. Good morning and it's just one day until the Grow For Talgarth Plant & Produce Sale. Tomorrow we'll be up bright and early in Talgarth Square setting up the tables which will be groaning with perennial and annual plants. We're asking for donations, all money raised will go towards keeping the boxes and pocket gardens looking their best and keeping Talgarth looking smart.
Don't forget to drop into the Farmers Market in Talgarth Town Hall's basement where we'll have a table selling lots of lovely cake. Please share this with friends and family. See you there

Please remember that the Grow For Talgarth Plant & Produce Sale will be in in Talgarth Square this Saturday (16th May). Not only will the tables be groaning with plants but we'll also have jars of chutneys and preserves and our usual cake stall in the Farmers Market in the Town Hall basement. Don't be late.
