On 26th March VAS will be hosting a Camerados Public Living Room in the Sanford house car park starting at 9:30am.

A Camerados Public Living Room is a free, friendly, and non-judgmental space where people can simply spend time together. There’s no agenda—no services, advice, or counselling—just a place to sit, have a cup of tea, and share space with others. Usually hosted in local venues such as libraries or cafés, it helps build connections, ease loneliness, and encourage people to support one another naturally.

Key Features of a Public Living Room:
No Fixing: These spaces are about being alongside people, not "fixing" their problems or giving advice.
Radical Mutuality: Everyone is treated the same; it is a space run by the community, for the community, often without staff.
Simple Atmosphere: Typically, these rooms feature comfortable seating, tea-making facilities, music, and board games.

Swindon has reached the final nine in its bid to become UK City of Culture 2029. We’ve always known there’s something special here - now it’s official!

The town will now receive a ÂŁ60,000 development grant to prepare the bid. A shortlist will then be announced later in the year, before the final winner is confirmed in winter 2026.

Led by Swindon Culture Collective, in partnership with the Council, the bid highlights the town’s thriving cultural scene, from grassroots arts groups and festivals to nationally-recognised organisations and venues.

Wishing all the successful bids good luck in the next phase of the competition.

by Josh, Swindon Youth VoiceSwindon Borough Council has shown ambition by committing to Net Zero emissions by 2030 and supporting the wider borough to achieve Net Zero by 2050. Thursday 27th November saw the coming together of the Inclusion Network Swindon organised by VAS. The session was a powerful reminder of what can happen when we come together with honesty, openness, and a shared purpose.

By creating space for diverse voices, we’re not just discussing challenges, we’re engaging in collective problem-solving that leads to real, meaningful change.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, contributed, listened, and supported one another. When we work as a community, our ideas become stronger and our impact becomes greater.

Let’s keep building connections, lifting each other up, and shaping a more inclusive future together!
