Last week saw the 1st UK Micro Tanners Conference hosted here at , generously supported by . We had over 60 visitors from the UK, New Zealand, North America and Europe with a mix or artisanal tanners, micro tanners, industry professionals and those interested in tanning.
Monday afternoon we ran tours of the tannery and farm with a the “Great display of leathers” on display, followed by beer and stone bakes pizzas at the local bar / microbrewery. The Tuesday and Wednesday were back-to-back sessions covering a whole range of topics with a meal made from our Organic beef on the Tuesday night.
It was a resounding success and far exceeded my expectations. I am incredibly grateful to all the speakers and to everyone who attended for their contributions to make it such an amazing 3 days. I was particularly pleased with how the blend of artisan and industry professionals was appreciated and respected with multiple follow up conversations planned.
So much energy and passion from everyone who attended, a real community feeling, surely a start of something…
